Excursion at Nassau how to dress

We are 1st time cruisers and excited about our upcoming trip. We have booked the Dolphin encounter at Nassau and wondered if we should wear our bathing suits off the ship or do we change at the excursion. WE will probably come back to the ship after the excursion and wont really be doing any sight seeing around Nassau.

Thanks, This board is awesome.

I haven't been, but I plan to wear my suit and then a cover-up, sundress or shorts/tee over it. You take a 45 min catamaran ride TO the island, so I'd personally not JUST wear a swimsuit off the ship.

I wear my bathing suit with a sundress style cover-up on excursions that involve getting wet. You will want some sort of cover-up for the ship too. I put a cover-up on when we go eat lunch at the buffets.

There are changing rooms once you get there - I assume you are doing the Blue Lagoon excursion - but you'll be wet for the ride home so you may want to bring a change of clothes for the ride back.

Blue lagoon is a full service island there are washrooms and change rooms, it would be completely up to you. I wouldn't worry about being wet on the way back the sun will dry you quickly. You'll probably wonder the island a bit before heading back anyway. If it were me I'd wear my swimsuit.

I'd rather be at Castaway Cay

Yep, wear your bathing suits.

Once you get there, you will go into an outdoor "hut" with a seating area. You'll be given a safety presentation and they will offer folks the opportunity to "upgrade" to the dolphin swim (no price break, so be prepared for this.) Then the folks going to the swim go to one area, and those going to the encounter go to another area in a lagoon. You cannot see either area. At that point there will be a locker provided for your valuables and everyone takes off their coverups, etc. We also had a fabulous underwater camera (sony Tx10 - they might have the TX20 now) that took better video than the cameras they had. So, I would highly recommend getting that camera with a flotation strap from amazon.

Afterwards, you can do whatever you want at blue lagoon - go to the beach, hang out in one of the many hammocks under beautiful palm trees, or grab a bite to eat. Note that the food is VERY expensive. I think the last ferry back is about 4:00 or something, and they drop you off on the other side of the shopping mall from the ship. So, whereas you get on the ferry RIGHT outside the ship, when they drop you off you have to walk through the indoor market, probably a couple of blocks.

My recommendation would be to go in bathing suits and cover ups. When you are done, rinse off and see if you can change into something more comfortable for the ride and ultimately walk back. UNLESS you want to return early enough to go straight up to the pool deck and have a splash before heading back to your room.

Have fun - personally I think Blue Lagoon is the best excursion in Nassau.

Thanks for your responses, that was what I was hoping to hear, bathing suit with cover up it is.

Also, thanks for the advise about the camera. We did just get an underwater camera and am looking forward to using it.
