Late Arrival

We arrive at MCO at around 8 pm on a Friday. We are staying with parents timeshare Saturday to Saturday. So we need a place for one short night.

What advice do you have for late check in and for only one night?

Are there hotels that will let you check in late; and lower the rate since we are not staying the whole time? Or resorts that allow late check out time?

What's your experience in this situation or a situation similar to this?

You will NOT get a lower rate.

I have checked in as late as 3:30 a.m. due to truck breakdown en route.

You can defer check out for one hour (for a fee) anything more than that is very costly.

PP is right, you won't get a reduced rate for not being there all day/night. You pay the rate, and if you check in for fifteen minutes that's your call.

Almost all hotels, regardless of type/level, will allow you to check in any time you please, up to check-out time the next morning. Most will require you to guarantee or prepay your room for this. Some will allow you to stay over for a late check-out depending on occupancy levels, and yes some will ask for a fee for this but many will not, depending on how late you want to stay.

Disney resorts have a fee for late check-out but it can be waived in certain circumstances (mainly, if they don't immediately need your room for a guest checking in).

I'd just start with a list of inexpensive hotels near your parents' timeshare, or between the airport and there, and pick one. If you stay with the larger national chains, they are usually a little more accomodating for late arrivals (having someone on duty to check you in after hours) or late check-outs.
