How often will we need our passports?

Other than checking in on the ship, will we need our passports handy? Are they required to get on or off the ship in Nassau or Castaway Cay?

Thanks!

That depends, are you using them as the government issued photo ID for the adults? If so, you'll need them to reboard along with your KTTW card in each port. And for re-entry to the US on disembarkation.

You do not need an extra ID at Castaway Cay. Your ship card is sufficient. There is a photo tied to it, so they do not need to see an additional photo ID.

Someone will have to fill in whether or not you need an ID in Nassau.

When we got off the ship at Castaway Cay we did not have our passports, which we were using as government photo ID, and we were told to go back and get them that we would need them when re boarding. When we re boarded they asked for KTTW an that was it, no passport.

In Feb, we were instructed to bring our KTTW cards for everyone and a photo ID for the adults. We had passports, but opted to just bring our driver's license instead and leave the passports in the safe.

I just disembarked at CC last September and this January. Nobody said we would need anything other than our KTTW card.

Back when there was no photo associated with the KTTW card, you did need to take a photo ID.

Remember you need a KTTW card for everybody...children and babies included.

We put ours in the safe the day we boarded and took them out the day we left - did nit need them in Grand Cayman or Cozumel. We did carry copies of them with us just incase.

For some reason none of us here can remember what we did in Nassau.

For the Cay, I did the 5K and for some reason almost no one gathered for that had brought photo ID. And they let us all off anyway (I was annoyed b/c I HAD brought photo ID...by the way, that's ALL the Navigator says to bring for CC...KTTW and "photo ID"). They told us to board with our bib numbers to "prove" that we'd gotten off with that group.

But when I boarded again with my husband and son, with my bib number packed in my day bag, they didn't want our photo ID, and just wanted us to scan our KTTWs and move along.

In Nassau you will need a government issued ID and KTTW for all adults, they will not let you out of Nassau if you enter the city without it. CC we just used our KTTW.

I have heard/read this umpteen times.

At CC sometimes they say nothing about ID during announcements prior to debark.
Sometimes they say bring KTTW card and photo ID.

Most times I read reports of folks in line to debark at CC and have their KTTW card only. Suddenly they hear from wherever about needing a photo ID, and have to run back, an retrieve an ID. So they do so.
Yet they are frustrated upon their return from CC that no one asks for said photo ID. Go figure.

I suggest folks count on carrying their KTTW card and a photo ID to CC, as they would into any port.

If your PP is your only photo ID then .... maybe a copy would work.
No... on CC no worries about PP's IMO. Stuff them in a beach bag.
Occasionally you won't need them to reboard, even though they asked for them to debark.

This is JMO.

In October security was telling everyone they would need photo ID to get back on (Castaway Cay), the guy directly in front of me told them he didn't have it and they told him he had to go get it. And nope they didn't ask for it upon return. I agree that it's a good idea to have it just in case (although being stuck at Castaway Cay doesn't sound too bad lol).

We are using our birth certificates to sail on our cruise, what will we need as a photo ID for our kids?
