ATTN: MODS- FW specific trip reports?
I mentioned in another thread in the camping forum about Fort Wilderness specific trip reports (pre & post!) which led me to wonder if there is such a thing?
And if not, maybe it could be a sub-forum like the "camping community" sub- forum? I know I'd love to read them and if I could, I'd seek out FW reports before others.

I was actually thinking of starting a pre-trip report- but I wanted to keep it in the camping forum because this is where i spend most of my lurking time, and the campers are who I most relate to, and whose advice/input is most valuable to me.
![]() I guess it would eat up less inter-space if I just put a link in my sig, but I thought I'd inquire anyway.

Well, I'll chime in here because I love trip reports.
![]() First of all, Jennifer, based on my observations here is how TR's go: - not everyone wants to do a TR - a few do a pre-trip TR (here on the Camping Board) as they prep for their trip - it's rare to get a Live TR (done while folks are at the Fort) because it takes time away from your family time - some folks do a post-TR but my observation is if it doesn't get written right away, the real world gets in the way and the TR doesn't happen. - don't try to add your post-TR to a pre-TR because it can drag on too long and people don't hang in that long. Camping Trip Reports have always been posted right here on the Camping Board. The winter time is always when we encounter the fewest TR's given the conditions I listed above. The best way I know to see folks' TR's is to reply into a TR when you see one and let the poster know you are following them and appreciate the effort it takes. My last TR got 16,800+ views which is rewarding enough but the interaction with folks during the TR is the treasure. So post into other folks' TR and they will post into yours. Here are my most recent three TR's (the oldest was a post-TR, and the other two are live TR's). As I said, the Live TR's are a lot of work and commitment so I think I will do a post-TR next time around (this year). A Brief Stay at the Fort Going/Coming From Key West - March 2011 A Live Trip Report At The Fort - April 2011 A Live Trip Report At The Fort - March 2012 If you want to read a few TR's then you can catch up with these. ![]() Bama ED

![]() I think I am going to start a pre-trip/prep report. I wanted to make sure I wouldn't be breaking any rules by posting it here in the camping forum. I have been part of some seriously uptight, "rule nazi" boards before. Not that I think y'all are like that (quite the opposite!) but I AM the n00b here & don't want to put myself on the outs before y'all even have a chance to experience my infamous "lack of filter". ![]() Do pre trip reports tend to be more of an "ongoing" thread as plans emerge, change & transform? Man- I love this kind of homework! |

I'd pay a buck or two if I HAD to, to keep your opinions coming for the next 283 days.

I just started a TR (link in my siggy) for our upcoming trip. We'll be staying at Fort Wilderness for the first time (a dream of mine) in a cabin. I have a good track record for fininshing my trip reports.
Feel free to stop by!
