Is there any benefit to booking a future concierge cabin while onboard?

I've read the FAQs and the multiple threads that discuss the on board booking of future cruises. We are sailing next week on the Wonder in a 1BR cabin. While we haven't sailed yet to see if we like it, I'm considering booking either the Wonder or Dream for next March and am pretty sure it'll be a 1BR again.

But, it sounds like there isn't a discount for the concierge cabins and that those dates can't be moved without losing the deposit. Is this correct? If so, I see no benefit to me booking on board next week and should probably just wait until we get home, no?

Your date can be moved but your deposit doesn't get refunded. It will get moved to your new date though. The only benefit to booking on board is the OBB credit that you would get. You are correct about not getting the 10% off in price. HTH.

If you think that there's a chance that you'll cruise again, but aren't sure of the ship or date- book a non-concierge dummy date. If you decide to transfer it to a concierge room you'll get the OBC, but not the 10% discount. If you decide not to cruise again your deposit will be refundable.

If your not sure about concierge, I would book a standard room category, then change it to Concierge once you've decided on a specific cruise. This way you can get your deposit back if cancelled or get the OBC.

That is exactly what I did. I booked the furthest date out which happened to be August a HIGH time rate wise. When I went to rebook, I checked out the first week in Sept. For $150 difference, yep only $150, I was able to get a category V. Did the happy dance. They were very accommodating about moving. Had to pay the difference in deposit fees, 20% not 10 but totally worth it.

Is the deposit for an OBB concierge level 10% or 20%?

When I transferred my OBB to concierge I only had to pay 10% as a deposit

Hmm, we always book a std room for our OBB, then xfer to concierge when we know what we want. We have always had to cough up the remaining due deposit, and it's always been 20% of the total.

When I transferred my OBB to concierge this week I thought I would have to pay 20% deposit but she only asked for 10%. She did make the comment that she thought it was the smallest concierge deposit she had ever seen Maybe she made a mistake?
