My first trip was Jan 2009 and the rooms had been finished for a few months so I think you're right that they started early in 2008 or late 2007. I want to say that it was finished in the summer or early fall of 2008 because I remember when I booked this last minute trip one of the factors was that Music had just been renovated. Booked in late Nov early Dec (we won the draw for tickets since our College team made the National Championships so it had to be at the end of that football season 2008) and there was a lot of chatter about the renovations as I was following the threads. I did a split stay last Oct and Music was my last stop. I did online and would have gotten my first request (close to front, I had secondor third floor of Jazz) except I had a change of plans and ended up needing the room ASAP so I asked if they had anything available right then (maybe about 11am). They did and it met my second request, first floor, other than that it was way the heck back in Country. But they were totally cool with it and changed it up with a no problem what so ever. It was fine as I wasn't picky at that point. And honestly it was not a bad walk. Just a few minutes. |

We enjoyed our stay here and the family suite is great!
We stayed at All Star Music in August 2011 and had a good experience there. We thought it was nicely landscaped, not too large, very clean, the bus service was good, and the theming was vibrant and colorful but not too over the top for those who don't like too much "in your face" theming. My kids also loved the afternoon activities by the main pool and the nightly movies by the main pool on the big drive in style screen. We stayed in a family suite and loved it! We stayed in Jazz building #2 on the ground floor and the location was very quiet. The location of the family suites overall is great because they are located in the Calypso and Jazz buildings which are the buildings closest to the main building. We loved the space and layout of the family suite and we still utilized the kitchenette (for in room breakfasts, coffee, snacks, washing sippy cups and mugs, etc.) even though we had the quick service dining plan. We liked that the kitchenette is in its own separate area away from the living area and bedroom and it has a microwave, coffee maker, sink, and mini fridge that is larger than the "beverage coolers" that are now standard in all the value resort rooms. There are two bathrooms in the family suite. The bedroom has a queen size bed, flat screen television, armchair, and desk with chair. The living room has a flat screen television, small table with two chairs, a sofa that is a full size pull out bed, a chair that is a twin size pull out bed, and an ottoman that is a smaller twin size pull out bed. This configuration was nice for our family because our two oldest kids got to have their own beds while our two youngest kids shared the full size sofa bed. I unfortunately don't have any photos of the suite to share because the photos I took of the suite didn't turn out good, but I can share a few photos I took of the resort grounds:

Link to the thread about the AS Music family suite
Here is a link to the other thread on here that is specifically about the All Star Music family suites. The suite we stayed in during our 2011 trip looked pretty much identical to the photos in this thread except that we had newer, flat screen televisions. I wanted to share this link since I didn't have any photos of the family suite to share in my previous post.

I got majorly pixie-dusted today at ASmu, so happy! I had to add on another two nights to the trip due to flights home being messed up due to snow (I say "had to"... god forbid you get forced to spend more time at WDW lol!). I went to the front desk to add the extra nights and the CM asked why I was staying longer, and I mentioned the storm back home. Not only did she get a manager to give me some kind of special rate for stranded travelers, she also upgraded me from a standard room at a back building, to a family suite in the front building!! I'm traveling solo so I definitely don't need a family suite, but it feels so luxurious to have all this space and the pool right out front!

Has anyone here been to ASMu in December? Just wondering if they share buses then. I've heard mixed things. Officially all the All Stars share buses but some people have reported they rarely share buses. :/ Since DH will be on an ECV this is one of my deciding factors. I always felt like we were inconveniencing everyone else when we had to get DH on and off buses. He's a big guy but he has arthritis and that is why he needs the ECV. I think people thought he just had it because he was a big guy so we got some looks quite a few times. :P I love the buses and without an ECV there is no way DH could do Disney so I will put up with the dirty looks I'd just like to minimize the number of them.

Not sure about December specifically, but I've been here for 5 days and we've only shared buses twice. Both times it wasn't that busy so I presumed they were putting the buses together to save running 3 near-empty buses

Pop Warner week and Christmas week you generally will see separate buses. The rest of December it generally depends on the time of day and the park. Disney does a pretty good job of allocating buses based on traffic needs. |

So excited! 3 1/2 weeks till arrival
just hoping for low crowds and not a lot of spring breakers. I live in a resort town and they are ALL here right now, lol, so looking forward to a little bit of time away!

I still don't know what resort we will stay at. I keep going between Music, Movies and maybe even Pop... But if there is a really good deal I am thinking POR too... I just don't know!! Still lots of time to decide. I am liking all of the reviews on this thread. Seems to have the least complaints.

A/c
Are there any special instructions to change the settings for the A/C in the room. I find many places they default to a higher temp and just get stuffy during the night. Thanks
