We are looking at flying Southwest to our cruise in May. Can you get boarding passes for departure and leave your bags outside your stateroom the last night? That was a great help when we flew Delta last time. Thanks.

Unfortunately, SWA does not participate in the onboard airline check-in. grrzzing.

You do set your luggage outside your stateroom the last night, but you have to claim it in the terminal the next morning and take it with you on the bus to the airport.

No boarding passes for SWA.You sit your luggage outside your stateroom by 10 the night before.You get luggage tags with Disney characters on them to identify what section you will pick them up in the terminal. You take them with you through customs then outside to the DCL bus to the airport. The driver puts them underneath then when you get to the airport you get your luggage then go through check in. Having luggage with spinner wheels makes this so much easier.

Awww, man...

Last year SW participated if you stayed at WDW. It stinks that it's not the same for DCL.

You can pay for early bird check in for your flight home, its $10 per person. Then, you should be in the A boarding group and can print your boarding passes upon arrival at the airport.

It makes things infinitely easier, and is totally worth the $10 per person!

I agree that it is worth it, but you won't always be in the A boarding group, especially if you are traveling at busy times. This is because they still give priority to people who book Anytime Fares and they don't limit the number of early bird check-ins that they sell.

You can also remember to check in 24 hours ahead of your flight online (ship's Internet is slow, but fast enough to handle online checkin). Where that gets you depends greatly on the flight. I usually get low B group numbers that way.

This is not a accurate statement. Since I works for SWA let me clear this up. A1-A15 is reserved for the Business Select Fare. Then if any, regardless of fare, A-List Preferred or A-List passengers are on board they will get A16 and up. Then comes the early bird people who are not A-List or A-List Preferred. We do not hold back any A boarding passes for the anytime fare. Just wanted to clear that up.

This comes directly from Southwest's website. Is this not accurate or am I not understanding what you're saying about the boarding passes?

Is there an order in which EarlyBird Check-In Boarding Passes are reserved?

Yes. Customers who have purchased Anytime Fares will receive priority over other fare types that are assigned their position based on the time stamp of the EarlyBird Check-In purchase.

I read that as saying that if there are two tickets - one Anytime and one not Anytime - that do purchase EarlyBird, then the Anytime will get a lower number than the other ticket. The question specifically refers to the order that EarlyBird is assigned and doesn't contradict what the PP said about any EarlyBird ticket taking precedence over an Anytime ticket without EarlyBird. BTW, I fly Southwest a lot and what the PP said has been my experience as well.

Do you have a friend or family member not traveling with you that can be trusted to remember to hop online at the right time? They can check in for you and then you can just print your passes at the airport - either the kiosks or curbside check.

The order for the early birds should go as following, A-List Preferred, A-List, why these two groups buy this is beyond me but they do, then the highest Rapid Reward members closest to A-List, then order of how bought the Early Bird, again regardless if it was a Business select, anytime, or want to get away fare.
