Question for people who have participated in and FE before

Hi!

I am helping to coordinate the FE for our upcoming cruise and have a question... if someone does not have a room assignment and won't be getting it until they are at the port, how do you handle getting their room number out to the entire group?

The best idea I have come up with so far is to try to do it at our "meet". I just wondered if anyone had a better method.

Thanks in advance!!

In most cases, someone (usually the FE organizer person) will have a master list. If those with blank room numbers are unable to attend the meet onboard to give out their number, they must contact the master list keeper to get their room number on the list.

And the others who need to get that number will check the master list.

Generally, since the list is just hung outside the door, it's best to just have DISnames and room numbers on it. No other information to be picked up by others who have no reason to know.

I've had to do this before. Since you will have everyone's room number, I just called everyone as soon as I had the cabin number. Unfortunately, not everyone makes it to the meets. You want to do this as early in the cruise as possible because folks start delivering right away.

How difficult is it to coordinate an FE? I'd love for our cruise to have one and hope a more experienced cruiser starts one but if not, I'd do it. I really know nothing about starting one though.

I have coordinated several FE exchanges. It all depends on the number of folks participating. If you decide to be the coordinator, PM me and I will let you know how I handled it.

I would assign the person with the GTY to give their gifts out first they can attach a post it note with their room # for everyone to find when they get their gifts.

A couple of folks did that on our last cruise, but they still missed a few.

Have a list on the coordinator's door with any upgrades or last minute GTY assignments. Everyone just needs to check that door first. There is no way I would call every room involved in the FE.

Agreed. This is how it's always been done for my FE exchanges.
