Med Cruise - early risers

Does anyone know if it is possible to see the ship coming into Barcelona Port, from shore?

I am surprising DH with a 4 night med and was thinking of a sunrise picnic breakfast near the shore to "break it to him" and it would be awesome if we could see the ship returning to port too.

thanks in advance for any help

The ship may already be there..... unless you get there before sun up.

In reading up for my upcoming Med Cruise I have seen lots of questions on "what do I do if my flight is at 10 AM?" And it appears that by 7 or 7:30 AM if you are really desperate they can let you off... So that means they have probably been in port a little while to clear customs etc which is required before the allow "disembarking" I expect it arrives in the EARLY EARLY morning

The time could be early, early. Like before light out.

I do know on our Med cruise in 2010, the captain brought the ship back into Barcelona early. We came back into Barcelona the night before we were supposed to be there, because we were being chased by a storm and he wanted to get docked before it hit. And there were a large number of B2Brs on board that wanted to be able to go into Barcelona for the evening/night before departing on the WBTA.

The first summer DCL did the med (2007??) I know that we sailed fast from the last port (Villefranche) and arrived of the coast of Spain / Barcelona in the evening - we could see the city from the ship. We just kind of hung out there overnight until we were allowed into the port. I was asleep but I think we arrived really early in the morning.

I assume that you are a local and know where you would like to have your picnic, but I assume that the gardens where the "sky buckets" goto from near the World Trade Center to Montjuic would be a great spot overlooking the harbor.

Wow, what a wonderful idea. Have no information about the ship, but wish you luck.
