Discounts on Alaska cruises question - The DIS Discussion Forums

I am booked (and PIF) on the June 3 Alaska sailing. The ship seems to have just about every category open (as do most of the June cruises) and prices have not gone up from opening day that I can tell. I have friends who would like to book their family as well, but are wondering what discounts there may be coming.

What discounts ran last summer? KSF, *GT? And does anyone know when those were announced? The way the ship is now I am pretty sure they're going to have to run some sort of special to fill it, at least for early June.

They ran specials for the first couple cruises for 2011 & 2012 in Alaska. Don't think they had the *GT in place for the 2011 ones, so KSF was offered that year.

The May 27th and June 3rd cruise have 11C at 999 per adult. No other discounts are out there at this point and no GT's.

I don't know about 2012 but they did had some *GT rates for early 2011 I went the first week of June that year and we booked a *GT rate for it

It's got to be darn close to the opening day rate since the 2013 pricing thread was something like $2100 including insurance for an 11C. I have 3 cabins, an 11B, 7A, and 5C none of which have gone up in price since I booked opening day.

Those of you who got a *GT rate, how far in advance did you book that?

Its a reduction in fare from two weeks ago, don't know the opening price rate.

Well that's interesting. I just checked cruise fish and its the only price drop for those dates. Maybe they are trying this instead of offering KSF or *GT rates. Maybe they won't need to offer deep discounts because the cruises are selling well enough?

I also use www.cruisefish.net and thats where I found the "green" fare for our cruise.

Just looked again on cruisefish for 5/27 and 11c is green (DOWN).
I'm still 5C GTY so still watching closely.

I got an e-mail from Disney Family Deals today advertising a $999 rate for Alaska. It didn't specify any dates or categories, the link just clicks through to the DCL Alaska page.

I just looked and 11c is showing at 1225 per adult.

What date are you looking at.
5/27 and 6/3 are showing 999 for cat 11c.

11C won't help my friends since it only sleeps 3 and they're a family of 4. I can't imagine that very slight discount is going to sell the cruise out.

Hopefully, there will be more discounts. If not I guess I'll have a lot of room on the ship!
