Illuminations Fireworks Dessert Party on 8 Day Magic out of Galveston?? Recommend?

I noticed on our upcoming Disney Magic 8-Day out of Galveston cruise the Illuminations Firework Dessert Party port adventure was being offered. Was wondering if anyone had done this and if they would recommend it? I was concerned about getting back to the ship in time but since its through DCL I'm assuming we should be okay, right?

The only part of your question I can answer is, as long as it's a DCL excursion, you'll be fine.

Someone just posted in the 8 night thread that they did this and LOVED it and that the excursion people were escorted out a back area to a waiting bus. OP highly recommeded it. I've booked this for my April 26 sailing.

This is so crazy, I am on the March 29th sailing, but it's not available as an excursion? Am I looking under port adventures? I couldn't find it.

Yep. I found that review. Sounds like you get your own bus back to the ship when its over. That alone makes it worth it. My DH and I are booked for May. Never seen Illuminations before, we always skip it or leave early to beat crowds. Can't wait!!

We did this excursion on our 8/25 Magic sailing. You do get escorted out of a back entrance to the buses. The problem we had was it wasn't very organized since no one should decide if it should be moved indoors. When we got to the meet spot, the tables were all set up and everything looked wonderful. It was overcast and it took forever before they decided not to chance the weather. They moved it inside and we all stood around eating these desserts. Some were quite yummy. Then we were escorted to a private viewing area for the fireworks. To me it was underwhelming. I guess because of all the standing around then shuffling back and forth between the viewing area and indoor space. They kind of made up for it by escorting us out to the waiting buses.

Oh wow. Thanks for the info. I hope things go a little better with our weather. I already got my DH excited about this.

Since it's booked through DCL you don't have to worry about being back to the ship in time.

Illuminations is wonderful -- my family's favorite fireworks/show at WDW.

My family and I did the dessert party on a trip to WDW a few years back. Loved it!!! No fighting crowds, awesome desserts, private seating/viewing and great family photos in front of the castle all lit up.
To think that you'll get to see the fireworks with no fear of missing the ship since you're on a DCL excursion, PLUS no fighting crowds out of the park...sounds perfect!!
