Is there a benefit to paying off cruise balance with Disney credit card?

We rebooked on board in order to get an OBC. We did not put the deposit on the Disney credit card. Is there someone with knowledge who could let me know if there is a benefit (besides Disney Dollars) to paying off the remainder of the cruise with the Disney credit card? Is there an additional OBC?

Thanks so much!

There is only an OBC if you pay for the *entire* cruise with your Disney Visa card. (That's $50).

The only benefit I'm aware of is the 6 months at 0% interest.

These are the only benefits...but I love the 6 months free financing!

By booking on board, you will not get the $50 OBC given by the Disney Visa.

The deposit and the payment (full or partial) will qualify for the 6 months free financing. Note that any payments done with the card to settle your on board account (such as excursions or beverages or tips) will not qualify.

Many will prepay tips at PIF time so they will receive 6 months of zero interest.

The $50 OBC by the DVR requires all payment (including deposit) to be made with it, or Disney Rewards points, or Disney Gift cards. It cannot be used with any DCL offers that require a booking code such as OBB, MIL, FL, KSF. It can be combined however with the occasional online booking OBC, or *GT rates.

Also, the Disney Visa credit card gives you 1% in points. The Disney Visa Premium credit card gives you 2% in points from DCL charges.

Keep in mind that the 6 months of interest free charges must be over $100 and is only up to $10,000.

My travel agent told me that the $50 OBC given by using the Disney Visa card for the deposit and then the remainder of the cruise cannot be combined with any OBC credit given on board.

Example:

I used my Disney Visa for the deposit on our Oct. 2014 cruise and want to "rebook" it on our Oct. 2013 for 10% and OBC, but I will not get the $50 OBC from Disney Visa when I pay off the 2014 cruise in full with that credit card. She said they will not combine offers.

If you have the Premier Disney Visa ($49/year fee) you get double points on Disney Purchases.

Do you have Giant Eagle near you? We plan to use our "Thank you" credit card to buy Disney GCs to pay the balance of our cruise. Right now the promo is 20 cents off a gallon of gas for every $50 you purchase in certain GC and Disney is included right now until Mar. 13. (We have the money in savings so we'll pay off the credit card as soon as it is posted.) Then we will have enough Thank you points to buy almost $75 worth of restaurants GCs. We estimate that we will save close to $1000 on gas! (We did this last year and our gas savings was $875 and this was a 5 night cruise.) It's a nice bonus for something we were going to pay for anyway.

The deal was the last two Decembers at Target. They had $10 target GC for every $50 spent, and you could purchase Disney GC with a Target. Hence it became a buy 5 get 1 free, or 20% off.

I only purchased $700 worth of Disney gift cards, but others paid their whole WDW or DCL trips at 20% off...

Hopefully next December...

Same idea at Kroger. I've paid for our last two cruises AND OBC's entirely with gift cards. I buy them with a rewards CC to get that credit and the bonus gas discount. I haven't paid full price for gas in years.
