If one wants them done without waiting for insurance, they can leave a credit card to be used if the insurance doesn't cover them. And it doesn't take a month to get orthotics made...they can be done in 24 hours if the need is great. Orthotics are not a rapid pain solution, they are a long term solution to maintain one pain free, there are many other treatments that would be done to relieve the pain immediately.

Despite the unwarranted anger against the medical profession, as evidenced by your opinion, doctors do what's best for their patients, but they can't do it for nothing, or they won't be there when you need them.

For the record, I have no anger against the medical profession. I would not return to a doctor who wrote a prescription and delayed it being filled, nor does our family any longer see the practitioner who initially refused to bill our insurance for a covered item. In my opinion, delaying the delivery of the orthotics is not in the medical best interests of the patients.

I have had foot pain for years. Diagnosed with pf at one point, and I'm sure other things were wrong too. My feet hurt so much at one point that I could hardly stand to get out of bed in the morning. I went to a therapist who specializes in feet. He gave me exercises, ultrasound, and other treatment. I saw a HUGE improvement in a short time. HUGE. I'm sorry that I put it off. He also had orthotics made. They were a few hundred dollars but also worth it. When your feet hurt, everything hurts. I recently had surgery on one foot to remove a bone spur at the base of my big toe. Big improvement there also. Having the other foot done next month.

So, I say try some PT. See if you can find a therapist who specializes in feet. Good luck.
