Strollers?

I wish the search function was working, because I'm sure this has been discussed before.

Does anyone bring strollers for non-infants? We are sailing on the Dream on 5/2 (so close!!!) and DD is 3.5. She doesn't use a stroller normally, but with the size of the ship and dealing with the terminal, etc., I wonder if it would be smart to bring a small umbrella stroller? Or is that overkill?

Thanks!

A small umbrella stroller is a fine idea. its the big bulky strollers that are typically not recommended due to the size of the hallways.

I have yet to sail, but I searched an read about the same thing.

From what I've read some do and some don't. It's your preference. If your child seems to tired easily walking then its probably worth it.

We are taking two umbrella strollers, one for my 4.5 year old son and one for y daughter who will be 21 months at the time of our cruise. If we need them they are there and if we don't, so be it they will sit in our closet! The ship also has strollers to use, but they are first come first serve and you have to put down a deposit for them also.

If you want to try and search something I always use Google I feel it works better. (Maybe that's what they'er working on) So Google then Disboards strollers. (or what ever your looking for. It will bring up all the previous searches.

If you can't find it feel free to ask here people are always happy to help.

We did. The strollers the ship has available are the bigger ones, so not sure why you wouldn't want to bring your own if you have one. We put DS in DD's umbrella stroller when he was 6 because he fell asleep before dinner. Dressed him up and parked it at the end of the table until he woke up. DD has slept through dinner a few times herself. Avoid using the midship elevators and when you need to go up, get on the empty elevator going down and visa versa. It really does help...even now without the kids in strollers.

Yep, Maclaren Volo for us, even though DS doesn't normally use a stroller anymore.

Yes we bring an umbrella stroller for our almost 3 year old. We don't use it around the ship typically but we use it in the airport and on excursions depending on what we are doing. We are also doing a day before and after at Disney World so she will definately need the stroller then.

This! We had DD's special needs umbrella stroller for port time, a day at WDW, and getting through the airport. Never needed it onboard but hadn't planned to anyway. It stows easily under the bed so no problem to have with you for the convenience of when you need it.

Enjoy your cruise!

Strollers can also be very useful for hauling stuff.

Thanks, everyone. We'll plan to bring it. I just wanted to make sure they weren't frowned upon. Guess I had better make a stroller tag.

People are going to frown at something, just ignore them...just like at WDW. I believe that a rested child is a happy child. Ours never had a problem taking a nap in the stroller. It made for a relaxing trip for us every time. They were good about sitting still and not trying to get out of their seatbelt, so it was better to have them in the stroller if we were going to be waiting. Also wouldn't have gone off the ship without one.

Just got off the dream and didn't use the stroller much with our almost 3 yr old. Mostly because she hates strollers. Ended up carrying her a lot when we hit busy spots and she walked when it was quiet. We were one of the first off the boat at castaway and got one of their city minis For use on the beach and she LOVED it. Never tried to get out once.
I'd get one if you can because the umbrellas won't do well in the sand.
Still used ours during disembarkment. We saw many strollers on the boat.

If you take one and don't use it, is it against the rules to toss it over?

We used one on our first trip with a 1 year old. Used it on ship and in Nassau.

Second trip with a 3 year old we brought it along again. Never used it on the ship, but tried to use it in St Maarten, the sidewalks were not very stroller friendly, ran into situations where there was a post in the middle of the sidewalk and the stroller didn't fit on either side, LOL we had to walk on the street to keep going and the streets are not very wide and busy, it wasn't the best situation. LOL That was the last time we brought the stroller. We also brought an ergo type carrier on this trip and used that a lot on the ship and in St Thomas. Was totally the way to go! Although I had a very petite 3 year old!

After that trip we had 2 kids and we always brought the ergo type carrier. Well we actually did bring the stroller along on our last trip, but that was because we knew we wanted it for our pre days at WDW. Once on the boat we didn't touch it until we got off.

I personally think it's worth bringing a stroller just for the airport, if you'll be flying. We end up flying with all our gear, carseat, and keeping track of the kiddo on top of what we're carrying and rolling is just too much. Belting him into the stroller makes airports so much easier. Anything else is gravy. The Volo we use is featherweight and you can sling it over your shoulder when folded up, so it's very convenient to have just in case.
