What do you do when your flight leaves inlate afternoon to go home after cruise?

We have a 3:00 flight from MCO on the last day of our cruise. What can we do with the extra time? What is the latest we can get off the boat?

3:00 pm is not that late. You will be off the ship about 9:00 am, buy the time you get on the bus and get to MCO it will be close to 12:00 noon. You will want to make sure you get through security because I have spent up to 1 hour get getting through security at MCO. Then you have time to have lunch, look in a couple of shops and get on your 3:00 pm flight that starts loading at 2:30 pm. MCO is a large airport with lots of shops.

To me 3:00 pm flight is perfect because you are not rushed and you are not going to be waiting for 4 or 5 hours.

Curious to read the answers you receive. Our flight will most likely leave around 6 pm.

Yes, our flight doesn't leave until 7. I've seen some people will rent a car and hit Downtown Disney, but to me that adds the process times of getting the car, and dropping it off. I haven't decided it's worth the added stress to get a few hours there.

Others have posted that they get a "day room" at Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport. The hotel has a pool. That way you can relax a little, the kids can swim. Then have a little lunch and head for your flight.

Here's an old thread that people has discussed this.

After our first cruise, we rented a car and went to the Kennedy Space Center for the day before returning the car to MCO and flying home.

On our second cruise, we rented a car and toured Cocoa Beach until we had to return to MCO and fly home.

Others have gone to Downtown Disney or got a day room at the MCO Hyatt.

We hired a car for the day and drove to Universal Drive, played some adventure golf, had a relaxed lunch, did a bit of shopping before heading to the airport. The car drop off at MCO is on site so it takes up no time at all. Also if you get through security a bit early there is time for a proper meal before the flight - important if you are flying all the way to the UK given the state of the airline food!

Also, if the flight was not till the evening you could go to the Kennedy Space Centre. We went straight from the ship a couple of weeks ago after picking up a rental car. We were there before 10 am and left about 4 pm which would have been perfect for getting to MCO had we not been staying in Florida for a few more days (our flight to the UK was not till 8pm)
