Dining plan 2bedroom villa

Habe a party of 4adults and 2 small children in a 2 bedroom villa and some of us want the regular dining plan and the men want the deluxe.i think it's horrible that everyone has to get the same plan.any way around it? Can I buy the deluxe plan for the men and split one
Plan with my mom? We don't eat that much especially watching the
Little ones..

Have you priced out a Tables in Wonderland card? With a large group and enough TS ADRs to warrant a look at the DxDP, you might be better off with TIW instead of a dining plan.

Dining plan credits are assigned to a room based on the number of people in that room. So technically, if you get the regular dining plan you can use no dining plan credits and your husband can use them all.

But take a look at the numbers...you may be better off just paying cash for meals.

I don't think the dining plan was ever intended to save guests money. It was set up to make Disney money.

The answer is no on the dining plan. Two adults cannot split one and they must get the same. The dining plan is not a true discount plan. How economical it is in relation to just paying cash for meals depends on the extent to which you actually use everything and it sounds as if you will not likely do so if all get the premium plan. If you are going to spend more than $500 on meals at table service or buffet restraurants, you should consider purchasing the Tables in Wonderland card for $100, DVC cost ($500 is its break even point using its 20% discount off of food and drinks).

IF you get the reg dining plan you'll have 4 cs and 4 ts credits per day. At a ts restaurant you all must order an meal and no sharing is allowed. If you go with the deluxe plan you'll have 12ts credits a day, which can also be used at a cs place which you'd be able to share with your mom if you wish. IMO, you'll spend more money this way, rather than buying the TIW card. If you'll be split up from DH a lot, you might need to invest in a second card for yourself unless you plan to stick to cs during those times.....

You can use the DDP credits for some of your party and cash and/or TIW for the rest. You can also switch around for different meals.

You need to list your meals and menu selections per person, see what the costs are and decide on the best use of the plans.

The dining plans are what they are. They are not owned or controlled by DVC, they have to follow the rules set forth by Disney...everyone in the room must be on the same plan for the length of the reservation. They were not intended as a discount or money saving program. More, they are designed to use instead of a discount on a cash room (AKA free dining) and to compete with the now popular "all-inclusive" vacations offere by cruise lines and some non-Disney resort locations.

The DDPs just don't work for everyone. I've never spend as much as the DDP would cost, and I found the selections too limiting, as far as I'd rather have an appetizer over a sweet dessert.

If your little ones are 3 or older, you'll need to buy a dining plan for them as well.

I don't think the standard dining is worth it. No matter how I calculate it, I end up losing money.

For Deluxe the only way to make it worth while is to eat more at the non-buffet places and signature dining (2 credits). My husband's a big eater so it works for us.

Example: our dinner last fall at Narcoossee's was around $270 for 2 adults, 1 child. That was app, entree, & dessert, no alcohol. TIW would have saved about $50. The DDP for that day cost us about $200 and I still had 1 credit each and 2 snacks.

I'm assuming you don't want to get separate reservations so you can get different plans. Look at where you plan to eat and go through the menus with an eye to what you're likely to order. As noted, you'll have to buy it for the kids if they're 3-9. As a rule, CS choices, dinner theater, signatures and character meals will rob value from the Deluxe plan. However, the deluxe plan is the one you can potentially save the most with. It's difficult to realize a savings with the basic plan and almost impossible with the QS plan unless you include the combo's, WPE and PM as a significant component. Enjoy your trip.

It got much harder to save now that deluxe jumped from $85 to $100 per day, per person

Every year i want he DDP, and every year i run the numbers and end up getting the TIW card.

It's more difficult to save with all plans now than it was even last year. The deluxe plan still has the most potential but the highest risk as well.
