Booking DCL through Costco

I've heard of people getting good deals by booking their Disney Cruise through Costco. Had anyone here booked a cruise through them?

We've booked 2 DCL cruises with Costco. You don't get "good deals" per se, as Disney doesn't allow TAs to discount their cruises. Costco does offer very nice Costco cash cards for booking through them. Value of the cash card varies depending on the price of the cruise.

Buying a cruise through Costco is just like buying a TV at Costco. If you know exactly what you want and do not need any hand holding Costco can be a great deal. If you need help and want to be able to get your questions answered by a travel agent then Costco is not for you.

I used them for our Alaska cruise and would do so again.

I transferred ours to Costco for my last cruise. For 3 rooms I ended up with a nice set of gift cards that were promptly received w/i one week of getting home.

I named them as TA for my next cruise right away since you have to name a TA w/i 30 days of booking. I asked at Costco today if I could use the gift cards for payment against my next cruise and they said I couldn't. I'll call the TAs and see what they say before I spend them in the store or online just to verify.

It's my understanding you are able to "cash in" the Costco cash card you receive from the booking? I know other posters have commented they have done this at the customer service desk.

I used Costco for the first time last October for a December Fantasy sailing and received my Costco cash card about 10 days after returning however I needed things at Costco so I just used it there. I have two transferred bookings from booking on the Dream and Fantasy but I don't travel until next year. I will ask for cash at customer service to use that to pay towards excursions and if not, we will use at Costco, no problem .

To me - as other posters have stated - as long as you know what you want and don't need a lot of guidance, it's the perfect combo. I booked on board so I got my 10% off, $200 OBB and my Costco cash card when I return around $400 for each cruise.

I can see why you were told you couldn't use them as pay't towards your cruise, DCL is the one that actually processes the pay't not Costco. DCL's system is not set up to handle Costco cash cards. But you can use Disney gift cards to pay for your DCL cruise that is booked thru Costco.
