Sorry, quick question. Are there resorts where the building entrances *aren't* DSAs?

I have a sneaking suspicion that pretty soon there won't be any DSA's in either the parks or resorts, and Disney will go toally smoke-free. It really appears to be trending that way, with fewer and fewer DSA's and those that remain are increasingly benchless & shade/raincover-less. I know it won't matter to them, but it'll mean this Passholder won't be back for a long time (Unless they come up with a decent e-cig soon)

I'm a former heavy smoker. I gave up just over a year ago but I refuse to be one of those former smokers that forget what it's like to be a smoker or attacks smokers. I actually find the smell of smoke pretty nasty now, but for 25 years I was the person smoking and I still think smokers are getting a bad deal.
I agree that smoking indoors is not appropriate, but I really do not see why smokers should be made to feel so uncomfortable or banished to unseen corners. In my opinion, the amount of money they pay in tax for their habit and contribute a lot to the economy, and for that reason alone they deserve to be treated respectfully. I don't think Disney will remove all DSA's but I think they are reducing the number of them and making them more and more "unpleasant" and unprotected from the elements.

Did anyone mention that another smoking section (DSA) in the magic kingdom was closed?. Yes, the one across from liberty tree tavern on the lake side walk way.
As a former smoker I have mixed feelings. But I'll tell you something true DSA are counter productive! Because grouping the smoke up and concentrating it worse then it being dispersed. And since they can't allow it through out the parks .. I think they are trying to move the DSA to " coves" and out of the way spots. I heard rumor that when NFL fantasy is complete that they will be moving a lot of the DSA into coves. For example , ya know the gazebo where the princess tiana meet n greet is .. Tucked in the back of liberty square, I think that might be a future DSA. I think that is why the closed that liberty DSA by the water walk way, cause such heavy traffic there lent to more complaints etc. and another thing the entrance to Saratoga is awful and smokey even when no one is there smoking! It is something about the walls there blocking it in.. I don't even think smokers like the feeling of smoking 100 cigs at once, basically DSA need to be more thought out, maybe more , or large , Ventilated areas, away from heavy traffic and stares lol, I don't know but something better the clouds of smoke.

I agree and Thankyou for not being an EX!!! If they had more DSA's the concenration would be less and some actual signage would be nice !!! I agree that the entrance ways are not the best location for DSA's and that little alcoves away form the beaten path a little are ideal !! Also when NON smokers plonk themselves down in DSA's and then glare at you is sooo not right !!

just want to mention that the little area behind the christams shoppe, behind liberty square 9where tiana is now) USED to be a dsa! it was a great out of the way spot for smokers, until they decided to put tiana there, and move the dsa to the wooden walkway everyone uses from liberty to big thunder!
seems like everytime they have a nice out of the way dsa, thye poof it of move it I have more examples, but have to go to work now.

Be a responsible smoker
One of my pet peeves is careless smokers and we found lots of them on our recent trip. There were cigarette butts thrown all over the ground and in the gardens near the dsa's. I noticed that is was mainly young people but not always. I actually suggested strongly to a few of them that they should pick up their butts and put them in the ashtray. I am sure part of the reason that dsa's are disappearing is due to the having to pay someone to clean up the mess. If us smokers did our part to keep the area's clean and butt free things might improve for us.

Does the Animal Kingdom lodge only have one designated smoking area? I have seen several maps showing 3 and one that shows only one by the main door.

There's one at the front and another behind the pool on the way to the children's playground. The third one near the pool bar has been gone for several years.

Thanks coffeecup. Looks like it could be a long walk, depending where our room is.
