ROFL!!!! Literally!!!
![]() ![]() When I was in college I performed with a band, and at one gig during some technical difficulties our guitartist was ironing out, I went into a comedic bit heckiling the hecklers, and I called out one guy dressed in his Cavaricci pants and long sleeve mock turtleneck tshirt with Z. Cavaricci emblazoned across the chest. With hands on hips, in a mock super hero voice I was saying "dah, dah dah dah... I'm Cavaricci man" the crowd was in hysterics, and my 15 minutes of fame lasted for the entire semester, every where I went on campus people (including a couple profs, would put hands on hips and say it...) It was funny because i swear there were maybe 50 people at the "show" but it seemed like hundreds had heard about it...

1970s double knit pantsuits for both women and men-yuck.
1980s matching everything-tops, skirts/pants or dress, stockings, shoes, purse, jewelry Shoulder pads-I removed them from everything because I'm broad through the shoulders with a small waist and hips. They made me look like an upside down triangle. |

Leg warmers and sweatshirts with the neck ripped out. Not a good luck for anyone!

When I drink I find its easier to watch my children because I see all 3 of them double, so all 6 of them of them take all my attention

![]() Shoulder pads and hammer pants, and those horribly ugly sweaters with all the colors and patterns. And the worst by far is leggings. Now they can look cute under a nice long sweater however I see most people wear them as pants. Ladies, leggings are not pants and even if you are a size 0- you do not look good wearing them like they are

I still don't understand how we thought that giant poofy bangs, that went straight up, was fashionable! I had the wings on the sides too, my hair was literally a helmet. My mom called my hair my "man-catcher", because if any guy tried to run his fingers through it, he'd get stuck! Had to have the giant purse to tote around my giant can of hairspray. The girls bathroom was a fire hazzard. With all of us spraying our hair between classes, if anyone lit a match, KaBoom!
In the 90s, the only thing I remember (because it's in all the pictures) was the dark brown "turd" colored lipstick I wore. So not attractive, and it came off on everything |

The only thing worse than hammer pants were hammer pants in flourescent zebra print.
We also went through a phase of wearing RUN DMC shoelaces around our necks. That was boss. Also, one glove. And Benneton rugbies. Who made the decision that those looked good? |

If you can wear them and look good, more power to you. I have a very petite co-worker who looks awesome in them. But way too many people are wearing them & should not be.

I truly miss the 80s. The neon, the oversized shirts, the armful of rubber bracelets, 2 or 3 Swatch watches on one arm...
But there are 2 things I would never do again: 1) Any acid-washed denim. 2) My 6th grade poodle-permed mullet. ETA, just as an aside: I have 2 nieces, ages 8 and 6. They have taken to each wearing one of a pair of sequined gloves. However, they claim to have no clue who Michael Jackson was. I'm teaching them how to moonwalk anyway.

The high waisted pants that flatter no one. I was watching an old movie and Dianne Keaton was wearing a pair of pants that ended just under her breasts. Soooo ugly.

You were lucky, I only had 2, white and grey.
I am loving this thread, its bringing back so many memories. The funny thing is that 80's style has crept back into fashion. A lot of the things my dd wears have an 80's feel to them. Lets hope the fashion designers learned from the first go, some things should NEVER come back! |

Oh yes, I remember that in Annie Hall. Why is it that when mom jeans went out, showing off one's butt crack came in? Can't we ever have a happy medium?
