Hi!

We are going to Universal for our second time this summer! Yay! I have a ticket question. We are staying on property at the RPR. Last time, we bought our tickets at the hotel. This time I am considering using undercover tourist for the first time.

Has anyone purchased the 3-park unlimited ticket (14-day expiration)? It seems too good to be true. I'm also worried because I can't find this ticket on any official Universal ticket site. Is it legit? We are staying for 7 days and the Universal site only has 4-day tickets available.

Also, if I recall correctly, your room key from the hotel doubles as your express pass. Is that true? Just wanted to make sure the express pass is not connected to the park ticket, and if so does it have to be purchased through the hotel? Hope that makes sense.

Undercover Tourist is a legitimate vendor and lots of people purchase theme park tickets through them. Universal honors those tickets so you have nothing to worry about.

Last year the onsite hotels changed the way they handle unlimited Express access. Your room key is no longer attached to the Express pass. Instead, there is a separate Express pass...with your picture on it...that is issued at the hotel. The change was necessitated because people were selling or giving away their room keys after they checked out. This change eliminates that possibility.

Yes... in fact, you can get this same ticket when you book a vacation package directly through Universal. You have to sort of dig to find it in the options, but it's there... as is the Orlando Flex ticket that includes Sea World, and a few other options.

This specific ticket is no longer sold through the Universal ticket page BUT that doesn't mean that it isn't still good if you can buy it elsewhere. Often, Undercover tourist and other agencies will have tickets that were long discontinued but are still acceptable. The 3 park ticket does not have an expiration date, so you are good to use it! Just remember that it is not upgradeable or changeable since it is a 3 park ticket and includes shared revenue between Universal and Wet 'n Wild.

You may want to check out the price of one annual pass because it could alter your room price significantly and isn't that much more that the 3 park ticket. Also, depending on when you are going, the power pass is reasonably priced but has July blackouts at the studios.

Interesting. I like that change to the system, it was smart of them to include a photo ID. Now, though, we will have 3 cards to deal with... the park ticket, room key and express pass.

My DS still has his wallet on a lanyard from the last time we were at Universal. It will come in handy.

You CAN still buy this ticket from Universal:

Not sure if you can buy it without going through the "vacation packages" link...?

Yes, the Uni lanyard with the clear plastic pocket was perfect... I put my park ticket and express pass in there back-to-back so that each of them was visible from one side of the pocket!! (And I sandwiched my room key between the two for safe keeping!)

Thanks for clarifying that. I do need the one with the most days, as we are staying 9 days at the RPR. We are hopping over to MK for a day or two, but that still leaves us more than 4 days at Universal. BTW, why don't they offer a 5-7 day ticket for people like me staying on property for a while?

I think it is because the power pass is not much more expensive than the 4 day ticket. The price for a 5 days ticket would be the same as the price for the power pass which is for an entire year.

The 4 day park to park is $160 and the power pass is $190. The preferred pass is $260 and it will often save you about $50/night in hotel discounts.

Hmm, so with the preferred pass, you can get additional savings on top of the stay more save more discount on-property? We got a rate of $177/night.

No, it is one discount or the other. That rate is going to be hard to beat. Since you are staying so long, you got a really deep discount.

Huh? I used this ticket for five days in a row a month ago. It says "unlimited park-to-park admission for 14 days." It doesn't say anything about a four-day limit.
