RIP Tour -- is it worth it?

I have been to Universial Studios a few times; however, this will be my first HHN. As I am uncertain about the event, I went ahead and purchased the RIP Tour -- on Halloween night itself. Has anytone been on such a tour? Is it worth it? Halloween is on Wednesday night -- will it be crowded? Any suggestions about tour and that specific night would be greatly appreciated.

Historically...Halloween night is not very busy as compared to the weekends.

I've never felt the need to do the RIP Tour but quite a few posters seem to think it's a lot of fun. It's not cheap though.

Halloween is typically slower than most HHN nights. Most people are out trick or treating with/without kids. With this year Halloween being in the middle of the week I would say it won't be as busy. Scareactors usually pick on the RIP tours as well because the tour guides carry flashing things that are easier to see. Easy prey if you know what I mean

I've done it the past 5yrs and will again this. The tour guide gives you so much info on the houses and storyline that you would never get doing express.Makes the whole night totally worth every penny...

I agree with this! We go for 4 nights and have express for all. One night we do a tour not so much for the express aspect but for the total experience. Love it!

years ago i did the regular RIP tour.
lots of fun, got to meet different people in the tours.

then i decided to go with the private RIP tours.
it's more money but you can plan your evening the way you want to spend it at hhn. the entire evening is doing the tour until the park closes.

either way, you gain a lot of knowledge in doing the tours.
limited waits for houses and shows. background information that pertains to the houses, shows, etc.

if you will be at hhn for one night only, you'll be able to cover the entire park for the houses.

the tour guides are the best!

Report

Just a follow-up report: we did the RIP tour and yes it's pricy but I am SO glad I did it. I looked at the lines going into the houses and have no idea how people more than 2 houses in one night! The lines were huge. If I paid all that money to go and had to wait in one of those lines I'd have been very irritated. So I loved the tour and would highly recommend it.

Yeah...crowds were unbelievable this year. I'd never seen HHN that busy every night.

Thanks for the follow-up. We might consider this some day.

We dealt with some of those lines this year and I'll just say that I'm so grateful that we had Express passes. We got into the first few houses almost immediately and then waited 30-45 minutes in the Express lines for the later houses. Some of the wait times posted were insane.

We went for the first time this past year, on a Thursday in early October (the 10th or 11th I think). The lines were insane! Totally not what we expected. We ended up forking out the $$ for the eps, and would do so again. Next time we go I will definitely look into the RIP tour. It was literally wall to wall people by around 9-10 pm. Crazy... but fun

I think I would plan the RIP tour into the budget from the get go.. that way the expense would not sneak up on us... it would be the plan.

We were there Thursday the 11th and had all the houses done by 8:15 thanks to Stay & Scream. Like pp said, the lines were crazy around 9, so that's about the time we went back. I'd be interested in doing a RIP tour, sounds like fun!
