Shelly, I know you have been to the Swan/Dolphin, what was your feel? I forgot! LOL!! I am just looking around trying to get the most bang for our buck...it seems like the savings might be a good deal, but if the extras aren't included or it's just a looooot of extra walking Mike may not like it...not sure how the kids would even feel about it...just exploring our options...we have debated on doing 2 different kinds of vacations this year and skipping WDW...I know! GAAAAASP!
![]() But, we dont usually reserve our room for Nov until around April anyway,..I have time to price things out... Anyone else have comments/opinions on the swan and dolphin? I looked at the threads but I couldnt get a good read... |

I loved The Dolphin, I did. The only cons were no dp, not being able to charge to the hotel key and not being able to send things back to the hotel. However, in hindsight, none of this really bothered me. My biggest criticism is the baths are very narrow. The room that I stayed in was perfect, as it had a perfect viewing location. When I looked out the window one way, I could see Fantasmic being performed. When I looked the other way, I could see Illuminations.
The room was near an elevator, so just a quick walk there. Transportation was quick. You could bus, boat or walk. The room was spotless, mouse keeping came by everyday to see if it was clean enough for me. The bed and pillows were very comfy. One big perk is that the restaurant in The Dolphin is open 24 hours, so if you need anything, it's there. Staff were all really nice. If I have the chance to stay there again, I definitely will.

We spent one night at the Swan when we drove down in December 09 and got there a day early (driving straight through was not planned).
I loved it - it was a nice big room, super comfy beds and the location for being near Epcot, Boardwalk and DHS is great. I think we had breakfast at Picabu at the Dolphin and it was really good. I just did the scrapbook from that trip this weekend! Since I don't care about DDP, I'd stay there. Do they get Magical Express? I can't remember. A lot of the restaurants at those two hotels get good reviews - Il Mulino, Shula's, Bluezoo...

Not sure if you meant me or the other Shelly, but I haven't stayed there yet. But I will someday! The rooms look very nice, the location is great, and they have awesome pools and lots of restaurants. The only downside I can see is that you can't use ME. You can however use the park buses. The other things like no DDP and no charging to the room and no delivery of merchandise from the park to the room don't bother me because we don't use them anyway!
I say if the price is right -- go for it!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to pop on and say hello.
Kim- Let me know which characters Andrew and Emily like. I have a bunch of lanyards and I can include them with your Mickey Mail! ![]() I have bought pins on Ebay many times and they have always been great. Madison usually keeps a few that she likes and then the rest are for trading. We have a ton of fun pin trading!

We just got the 2013 planning dvd in the mail today and I can't wait to watch it! I'm so excited to see the new Fantasyland! Em had dance class tonight so it was too late to watch it when we got home. I told them we would watch it for Valentine's Day tomorrow! Quote:
We decided against the dining plan this trip too. I felt like we wasted so much food last trip. Andrew eats like a bird and is soooo picky. I could literally pack a loaf of bread and some PB and the boy would be happy for the week.

So last night I was with my best friend and her husband when the say the plan to take the kids to Disney World in 3 years. They are penny pinchers and definately live on a budget, so they know it will be enough time for them to save up, and also the youngest at that point would be 4 yrs. So they then asked if I would "escort" them! Jared says he won't go unless I go because I know the ins and outs. He also says he doesn't want to be beaten for taken the kids for the first time without me!
So let the planning begin!! And saving! I'm going to make each kid a piggy bank that says "Disney Fund" on it. I'm so excited! Never done Disney World with young kids! Ahh!!!

No Kidding! Most people just want to know what resorts we liked!
They don't always take my advice on the best times to travel...and that is more important to me...who cares if your room is great if you are miserable at the parks all day cuz you picked crowd level 10?!! I think you will have a great time Red and make memories with the little chickadees they will never forget!

Well, I've finally decided to cancel my Bermuda cruise. Not because of the Triumph problems, and we had a great time on Princess two weeks ago. But they're rebuilding the docks in Bermuda, and there's a possibility that we might have to tender (take the little boats) between the boat docked in the harbor and the land. I really don't want to have to deal with that, especially while traveling with my elderly aunt. So it'll have to wait until next year. Oh, well.
At least the Disney trip is still on for September! |
