Castaway Cay: 5K & getting off & on the ship & off again
What is the process of getting on & off the Magic at Castaway Cay?
I'd like to go back to our room once in the morning if it's not a huge hassle. DH is running the 5K & I would like to take a few pics of the kiddos on the (hopefully uncrowded) beach in some nice outfits while he runs and snap a few pics of him at the finishing line. We'd then all return to the room, grab some breakfast if they are still serving & then head out to the beach to play for the rest of the day. My biggest concern is that it will take me too long to get off the ship & he'll finish the 5K before I get off. I'm assuming I'll be able to find the finish line but if anyone knows for sure, will it be easy to get to & how long will that take...it's not out in the middle of the island is it?! He's worked really hard to lose 40+ pounds over the last year, literally running his *** off! This will be his first (semi-) organized run & I really don't want to miss him crossing the finish line! Thanks in advance

You can get on and off easily. I think the problem you are going to have is timing to figure out when to get to the finish line with kids from the beach.

My husband ran the 5K on our 1/26 Fantasy sailing. They got off the boat at the same time as everyone else. So you can probably get off at the same time as your husband. It was not very well organized and took forever. My husband ran it in 27 minutes, but didn't get back on the boat until nearly 11:00. I don't know where the finish line is.

Getting on and off the ship is easy. Meeting up with DH at the appropriate time may not be! Good luck.

It starts/finishes near the bike rentals, which is near the second tram stop. I suggest you all get ready early and get off the ship together and take the tram down to the other end of the beach so you can see where he starts. Take your pics at the beach in the area. It shouldn't be crowded as it is the second half of the beach and a lot of families will park themselves between the first tram stop and the second.
If he's been training, you should know the general time that he'll run it in. Aim to be back there a little early just in case running with others gives him more motivation. As a reference. We docked at 8:30, race started at 9:15. Looking at my navigator's, breakfast in the buffet was served until 10:45. Lunch started at 11:30 on CC.
