I'm unclear why you think having a kid with you on a DISNEY ship would mean you get a subpar server?

As a former server, sometimes, the less experienced servers would get the parties with all of the kids. Sometimes its a seniority thing. Having never been on a Disney cruise, the same bias I saw as a server on land may not be apparent on a Disney Cruise.

Triton's menu looks amazing, especially this:
Three-Cheese Lobster Macaroni Lobster Meat, Gruyère, and Cheddar Cheese Sauce tossed with Tubular Pasta and topped with a Parmesan Wafer

DCL creates age-specific spaces on their ships, yes, but the MDRs are not part of that. People without kids will be in the minority at dinner, regardless of early or late seating. We had late on our honeymoon and were seated at a table with two other childless couples. I'm pretty sure we were the only ones in the entire dining room without kids at our table.

Ooooohh.....don't order it..... It. Is. Bad.

I've ordered it 2 times---haha joke's on me. It takes like plain pasta w/cream sauce with 1 piece of lobster meat in the middle. Someone must have a picture of it somewhere. It's horrible.

I agree, it does not live up to the menu description.

The lobster is a hot topic because some people love it and some people hate it. I always eat two. But then again, I never get to eat lobster except when the grocery store has it on sale once a year for Valentine's Day or someone else is paying for my meal and tells me to go nuts, so I take it whenever I can get it.

I love the baked lobster tail, but I don't love that pasta w/1 piece of lobster meat.

The baked lobster tail is a bit overdone, but it's great.

I was so tired last night I conflated two different posts without saying so, ha. Yes, the lobster pasta is terrible. The "lobster is a hot topic" part was only about the lobster tail, which gets both revered and slammed in threads when it's brought up. To all the haters, I say thank you -- it means more onboard for you and me.

[QUOTE=rentayenta;47501540

Whats the Captain's Gala night and why is the lobster a hot topic?

[/QUOTE]

Captains Gala is the menu that's generally served the second to last night of a cruise (if there are enough nights to do it). The lobster on it has its lovers and haters. DH (who is a great lobster lover) doesn't care for it.

The reason is the prepration. It's baked, not steamed, and it's not Maine lobster, but rock lobster.

A perfect example of food being a subjective item. Some people think it's just great, others really don't care for it.

That's good to know. I know it's Disney and of course they'll be kids. I hope we have some nice table mates.

Darn! I need to Google a picture of it. The only part that sounds out of place is the cheddar but now it all sounds gross. Thank you! I will skip it.

Triton's. it looks good. DS tried escargot this year in Epcot. He said it was gross but ate 3 of them. It was just the thought of garden snails I think.

Do the tails have a lot of haters?

I'm a heathen and haven't had enough lobster to know the difference by name and geographical location but not taste. I don't think I've had baked lobster but have had lots of steamed. What's the difference, in texture?

Sorry, I don't do lobster .

I'm figuring that steamed would be softer, where baked would be drier. Just asked DH, he says that's pretty much it baked=drier; steamed=moister, softer. Maine vs rock don't know much except rock lobster is smaller.

That's what I was thinking. Baked sounds like it might be rubbery. Lobster is difficult to cook anyway. I've never had rock. Doesn't sounds great. I'm more of a King Crab Leg girl.
