Basically we were deck 7. 2 adults 2 children. 17,000 dollars.

Then there is air fare. Roughly 1200 a piece.

Excursions. 2000 guess

Tips 1000

Your at 25,000

Again WOW!

So after 30 DCL cruises, the one destination we've never sailed with DCL is Europe. When they announce that they are going to Europe, we just check out the transatlantic cruises and they have always been a great value (shhh don't tell DCL) and very enjoyable vacations.

Just curious what ages are your kids? Do they find activities with the other ships? Because I think we might do exactly what you did.

I laughed a little this morning too, but bit the bullet and booked it because I know we would be regretting it if we didn't.

I laughed once I added up the total of the balances owed on the 5 cruises I have scheduled. Then I cried a little.

(Just kidding on the crying)

Silverfox i feel your pain , we just added up the balances for the 4 cruises scheduled over the next 2 years , Holy Moly!!! . Maybe our youngest DD (Junior in college & a WDW college intern) can put off graduation for a few years.

Nancy
This can really work out cheaper. The down side is, if your separate domestic flight is late, you are out of luck if you miss your flight to Europe. The airline you're flying to Europe is under no obligation to get you to your destination, because you missed your flight. They didn't make you miss your flight. They may take pity on you, but there's no obligation like there is if you miss a connection on the same ticket.

When we booked the 7 night Med last year (in 2012) for this upcoming cruise (2013), it was the "cheapest" 10A for a 7nighter that we were interested in. The only thing cheaper at the time of 2nd day pricing was the Pacific Coast cruise. The med was even cheaper than Alaska and the 7 night Fantasy sailings.

FWIW, we're paying about $3500 for 2A, 1C, 1infant for a 10A (w/OBB). That's not too bad, I thought. We paid more for our Alaska cruise in 2012.

For Europe, that's "cheap" since most European hotels will not let me cram 4 people in a hotel room. I'm booking 2 rooms for every city we're doing prior to the cruise. With food, the cruise fare actually looks very reasonable.

So while I think the 12 nighters (and 9 nights) are WAY overpriced, the 7 night itineraries are not bad on Day 1 (at least for 2013). We'll see what the pricing is like tomorrow for 2014.

We are DCL lovers, but we are doing NCL in the med in April. Half the price of Disney and we had to go in April due to the Airforce and our son who is stationed in Germany. I will let everyone know. We have done 11 DCL, two Hal and one RCCL. We can't compare everything. It's so post intensive we just need a moving hotel with meals!!

You're probably looking at the obstructed portholes that are listed as insides. They are higher on the ship and have a view so they've been selling at higher prices than the uninstructed portholes. I saved $400 this year my moving from my obstructed to an uninstructed.

I'm glad this thread came up. I am a novice cruiser and only have taken 1 Disney cruise. That was an 8 day magic out of NY. I have a wife and three kids, we did a 1 BR suite for ~13k and we had an incredible time. We booked early bc I remember rechecking prices later and it was up at $17k.

Anyway I was very excited about taking one of the new European cruises, the 9 day specifically. I am silver so will be calling today, but from what I can estimate due to other posts I'm probably looking at ~25k for a 1 BR or ~18k for two adjoining verandah's, and going down as I go down in category. Wife cannot do insides and we would like a deck, you see where I'm going.

Now I loved the DCL cruise, but for a VERY similar 7 day itinerary in NCL or RCCL I can get a 2 BR suite for $10-12k. I know those lines u will have extra costs but if u compare a Disney 1br to the equal on the other lines its a 13-15k difference. That is incredible to me. I am going to do this to see the ports and ruins and towns, he cruise line is a floating hotel with great amenities and a few days at sea. I can't justify that difference, especially as most of the one is in shore. If my goal was to vacation on the ship itself, I'd do a TA.

I'm sure the European cruises will sell out, but that seems like a crazy difference. Ill update when I get firm prices later today.

Even with these being after the Magic's dry dock, I don't care what they've added, those prices are ridiculous.
