YEA for increased platelets!! We use emla cream for weekly treatments as well as blood draws. I usually just numb both arms, doesn't hurt anything. I hope they figure out your bc issues and get it to you quickly. I totally know how you feel about waiting for dates. Doesn't you chapter cover you with insurance? That is the main reason we couldn't extend is that they are responsible for us from the time we leave till we get home. Hope your little visitor is gone.

For the emla - do you do one area on both arms, or the entire lower arm? We were told they could draw anywhere from the inner elbow down to the hand, and that it would be difficult to numb both arms that widespread.

We were told that our extension is totally our responsibility, and that it has no connection to the MAW portion of the trip. We were also told that our dates would be approved within a week (which I thought was highly unlikely, but only based on what I had read here - without the DIS I'd really be wondering what was going on), and that was almost a month ago, so I can't say I have much confidence in the knowledge of our coordinator or granter.

Blech! Hope you catch the critter soon - and that it IS just one! We had mice when we lived in a highrise condo years ago (right above the garbage room; NEVER AGAIN!). W used to work as an overnight radio DJ, so I was home alone, and a stupid mouse got it's tail caught in the trap at 2 AM and then got stuck under our fridge. It squealed for the rest of the night Ugh, just thinking about it gives me shivers. Probably contributes to my insistence that we always own two cats nowadays

Oooo, I wanna see Angel's pixie dust! (Don't mind me, I've been dealing with preschool and kindergarten Valentines. The bright colours have sent me off the deep end. It is definitely not a result of me sampling the candy hearts )

They always draw from his veins in elbow area so I put a little cream on the vein, cover with saran wrap and wrap his arm in coban. It is wonderful!!! Fingers crossed for dates!

Exactly what I was going to suggest! I am sorry the blood draws are so painful for Angel. So sorry to read the BC is still an issue and now you saw evidence of a mouse...you need a break!

Thanks Jo. Eek for your mouse story. Our old house was across from a grain elevator, so we had more than our share of mice. Never liked it then, but it's really bothering me now. Hope you had fun with the valentines Still didn't get the pics done, wanted to have Angel model one, and she was so tired when she got home from school.

Thank you so very much to Melissa & Carter for the wonderful "I'm a Wish Kid" shirt, personalized pillow case & fabric markers for character autographs on the cruise, and adorable little giraffe clip!

Angel was getting ready for Pep Band when I took the picture, and tried to wear the shirt tonight, but I was mean & made her change back into her school team shirt. I would rather she save it for the trip, but she doesn't want to wait that long to wear it, so I'll have to think about it.

She got another surprise in the mail yesterday - a NEGU (Never Ever Give Up) JoyJar. They send goodies to kids with life threatening illnesses. Angel's JoyJar included a giraffe patterned bandana that she would like to wear to AK, and some cute Princess mini pens & note pad. If you've never heard of NEGU, and you have a child that qualifies, please look into it - what they do for the kids is wonderful.

I was surprised how quickly they sent it, and how many items they fit into the jar. It was a lot of fun. Looking forward to hearing what Jacob gets.

Thank you Judy I was on early & read your lovely greeting, and couldn't post then cause I was crying too much. We were amazed by the support we received when Angel was diagnosed, but dismayed at how fast everyone diappeared as soon as she was released from the hospital. The only ones that have stayed with us are some truly wonderful friends we made online at a webkinz forum. Now we have DIS friends too. It does hurt to be so alone in RL though.




I just got an email from the wish coordinator, asking if I had my passport yet, because she can't do anything until I do. That is not what she told us 1/24. She said she had already submitted the dates, and that Tom & Angel applying for the passports was enough. It wasn't a matter of misunderstanding what she said, I have follow up emails from her. I was so excited to see an an email from her, hoping for dates. Now we're simply crushed, because it looks like we'll probably not be going this year.
