Fish Extender Group

Annemarie & Hazel are organising the Fish Extender Group. If you are interested in signing up for the FE exchange please can you send an email to wbtafejoin@aol.co.uk rather than sending a pm as we both have different DisBoard accounts and want to have all the information in one place. The list will then be updated frequently in this post.

In your email please provide the following info:
Stateroom number (if known), Disboard name, first name of each person in the stateroom, relationship to you (DH, DW, DP, DD, DS, DM, etc.) including ages and gender of children. Also the country you are from.

Stateroom Tour

Ken (Disdel) is organising a Stateroom tour which will take place on the first Sea Day, time to be confirmed nearer the cruise.

DIS'ers volunteer their stateroom to be viewed during a walking tour, so you can get to see (hopefully) every Category of accommodations on the MAGIC. You can see "how the other half lives" and also see what would or wouldn't work for YOU on future cruises. "I'd be ok in that sideways 11", or "Hey, that Navigator's Verandah is pretty cool" etc...

Logistically, a group of 25-30 is ideal, and those volunteering their rooms for viewing also want to tour, so participants will be given a specific itinerary. Hope that all makes sense.

Palo Group Brunch

Mandy (MandyGirl) is arranging the Group Palo Brunches, if you are interested please PM Mandy your names, cabin number and party size.

~ I will have everyone re-confirm after PIF (Paid In Full) date to make sure everyone is still onboard since this is so far out.
~ I will request full names and reservation numbers at that time before I send in our request.
~ I will submit the request to DCL in June 2014 so we are in the queue although we know they might not look at it until closer to the cruise.
~ Once your name is submitted in June, there are no refund or changes.
~ We can have a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 14 for each group according to how Palo is now on Magic (assuming drydock won't affect Palo private room sizing).
~ I will add guests to the groups on a "first come, first served basis" starting with group #1 - and those will be the dates we request with DCL (not guaranteed). Groups filled in order the PM is received.
~ If for some reason you cancel this cruise, please PM me immediately so I can fill your group as we must have the minimum of 12.
~ Due to the popularity of this event and number of cruisers we anticipate, we will try to fill the groups to 14 to allow a maximum number of cruisers to participate.
~ We should receive confirmation about 30 days before we sail with charges made to your onboard account.
~ When you are able to make your own personal Palo reservations, it is encouraged to do so. When your Group reservation is confirmed, DCL will delete your original "on your own" brunch reservation since we can only book one brunch prior to embarkation. Do not rely on this brunch to "make" - be proactive and still schedule your own brunch just in case! There could be other groups making the same request which is why we encourage you to schedule brunch on your own after PIF date - just to be on the safe side.

Calling all Book Worms ~ DIS BOOK SWAP

Finished a book? Looking for new reading material? Come over to cabin # 6128 to find the book bag at my door. You can exchange your book for a different one, just take a book, or just leave one in the bag. Let's make sure we'll all have plenty to read on this wonderful long cruise!
At the end of the cruise, I will take any leftover books to Guest Services to be donated to the crew library.

P.S. Our cabin # 6128 seems to be the perfect location - located far aft and thus close to secret deck 7 for relaxed reading, and at the same time on deck 6 where it all seems to be happening!

Pre-Cruise Hard Rock Get-Together

Sarah (TotallyAngelic) will be organising a pre-cruise meet up on the evening before we sail in Barcelona ~ 5th September 2014. In the past this has been held at the Hard Rock Cafe on Placa Catalunya ... you can meet up for a drink, or dinner, or just say hello to your fellow cruisers. This has been a great night in the past ... a good way to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

Sarah will be contacting the Hard Rock early in 2014 to arrange this, and until; then will be keeping a list of names of those who are interested. Please PM Sarah with a list of names for all in your party that would like to attend.

DIS Group Drink Tastings!

Rules:
1) Will need to know the first/last name of each person participating, along with your cabin number. Remember, you MUST be 21 or over, and DCL will check this against your registration info. You must PM this to the person organizing the tasting you want to attend (see list below).

2) The cost of the Tasting Class will be charged to your cabin by DCL. There will be no refunds once we have submitted the final list, this won't happen until about 2 weeks before the cruise (we will know the time and date before the final list is submitted.) The cost is approx $20 per person (TBC nearer the time) and will be charged to your room whether or not you attend once the final lists have submitted.

3) There will be a MAXIMUM of 49 people per tasting. If we go over this number we will be able to schedule separate tasting classes. With exception to the Champagne Girls - only one booking can be made so a maximum of 49!!

Way back before the first PC Repo cruise, a great friend, EllaEnchanted, and I (Ukangel) were 'chatting' online and one afternoon came up with how great it would be to get a few like minded ladies together onboard and drink bubbly....we added tiaras and pink, and later feather boas.......and called ourselves Champagne Girls.

Chocolate Tasting

I will be organising a private DIS Chocolate Tasting group, it is a newish thing so and after a little research it appears that you get a selection of white, milk and dark chocolate (dark 62%, darker 72% and darkest 85%!) and a shot glass of melted white, milk and dark chocolate. You taste the different chocolates with a variety of wines as well as a glass of whisky. I believe it is $30 per person.

If you would like to sign up then please PM me (pinky166) with the full name (first & surname) and cabin number of all wishing to take part. I am pretty sure that it will be a maximum of 49 people so it will be on a first come, first served basis. If we exceed 49 then I will start a waitlist/possible second group.

Calling all Sweet Tooths!!!!

(From Caroline, lovingthemouse) Ok, I have seen the word candy mentioned a few times on our FB posts. There are a few of us who do indulge!!! So, I have decided to take on the Candyswap .


What it is? It is as delicious and tempting as the title infers; participants exchange candy among each other. For instance many countries/states/areas have some specialty which you might consider introducing to your fellow cruisers. I know that here in New England we have an awesome candy, which I wont share the name of, but, OMG get your taste buds ready.
If there is nothing really specific from your neck of the woods, don't worry! Just bring along something you find mouthwatering and know that others will appreciate you sharing it.

Send a PM with the following information to me, lovingthemouse (Caroline), and I will make certain that it is posted on the first page by Claire as we update.

Scrapbook Exchange!!

Scrap booking: the hobby of creating compilations in scrapbook albums, such as keepsakes, pictures, periodical articles, etc

No - we will not be scrap booking. Please note that DCL may offer a scrapbook class and that this class is normally geared to beginners and families although you may want to stop by to check out the free supplies they may offer.

This is a notice for those interested in a SCRAPBOOKING EXCHANGE!!!

Remember:
You don't have to spend a lot of time or money towards this exchange.
The gift can be homemade, already in your scrapbooking inventory, or purchased.

Some ideas include page borders, journaling boxes, photo frames, titles for pages, and small embellishments.

Hotel Praktik Barcelona

Hi Everyone! Here is the information on the hotel. I am working through the translations and time differences, so please bear with me! I am now waiting on just a couple of clarifications, but we are almost there!

The Hotel Praktik Rambla has 43 double and double superior rooms and 4 singles. Below you will see pricing for all of the doubles - and I have requested pricing on for the singles. The hotel has a weekday/weekend rate schedule that they use as a part of their normal business. The rate that we were given is comparable to the weekday rate. This is one item I am working to triple confirm. Also, please keep in mind that this pricing INCLUDES the 10% tax.

Most of their rates are pay at time of booking - which is a bit daunting as we are over a year out. I am waiting on confirmation of the change and cancellation policy, as things change and people may drop.

Oh, one more thing... Kids 12 and under may stay in a room with 2 adults at no additional charge. (1 under 12 per room) I think that this helps a few people.

Doubles with 1 or 2 beds - 143 EURO
Double with extra bed - 182.5 EURO
Double Superior with 1 or 2 beds - 182.5 EURO
Double Superior with extra bed - 220 EURO

These rates are per night. And the rate we were given is well below the advertised weekend rate!

DIS Group Dining List

Susan (Geffric) is collating a list of DISers that would like to be seated in the same area in the Main Dining Rooms.

The thought is to have a section of the each seating, early and late, of the dining room devoted to people that on included in the DIS/FB group and their friends/families/relations. This does mean that the group will all have the same rotation and stay together the entire trip.
