How to get RFID park tickets

listening to one of the pod casts, they talked about many of the turnstyles being closed while they convert to the RFID entry points.

They also commented on the large lines at the turnstyles, but relatively short lines at the RFID entry places.

We are going down in 5 weeks, staying offsite. I still need to buy tickets. How or can I get tickets with the RFID?

Man, skip 2012 , and everything changes.

thanks

AFAIK, the RFID chipped tickets are for WDW resort guests, as the chip is in the KTTK card and also opens resort room doors among its other nifty features.

Take any currently valid ticket to any of the ticket booths or Guest Relations outside any WDW theme park, TTC,
or at DTD Disney.
They will exchange it to a new RFID plastic ticket at no charge.

Does anyone know what type of tickets they are on the Disney website? I'm going to be ordering some park hoppers in the coming weeks and I'm curious if I'll have to exchange those for RFID or if they already are. Thanks!

It has nothing to do with the type of ticket you order. It's the media used when the tickets are issued.

Things are, right now, in a state of flux.
You won't know exactly what kind of tix will
be sent until you get them.

Regardless, if you do need to exchange tickets for RFID,
it should be simple and pretty quick.

You can exchange the tickets to a guest relations location. Or, since you haven't purchased them yet, you could just wait and purchase them onsite (at AK, MK, HS, EP, or DTD).

We are due to arrive 2/21 - so we will receive the RFID chipped tix?
How about the closed turn styles that are being converted - is there an ETA for when those will be re-opened?
Thx!

Here now.

They are still having problems with the RFID room cards. Ours let us into our room no problem. Couldn't get into the Parks or charge. Lots of Blue shirted My Disney Experience people at the RFID gates each morning. At AK, I was told that no one could fix our cards. I ignored that and went to the concierge at the hotel. He had to go get a manager. They ended up issuing us new tickets.

When they work, they are fast and east. However, the next morning we saw people in front of us whose cards were doing the same thing. They had to be pulled over and scanned with handheld devices.

Thanks for the first-hand report!

We leave in 4 weeks, and I was thinking that we might convert our tickets (which we purchased from Undercover Tourist last year) to RFID in order to shorten the wait at park entry.

Now I'm not so sure that would be a smart idea.

Eager to hear of any other first-hand experiences.

yes we just got back yesterday. The new cards was a JOKE for us. totally worthless. Did not work in magic kingdom nor epcot. Had to be pulled to the side an have them scanned about 10 times with those hand held device's. I know its new it just did not work for us. AND we had to have seperate rooms keys to use as they could not get them to work with our rooms either. I just paid for everything out of pocket verses trying to get them to work in stores an resturants.

Eventually when they move to all RFID the separate tickets that already exist and the APs will be converted to the RFID. Pretty sure you can't get them for an annual pass yet.
