Snack/Dessert question

Do most snacks in the themeparks come packaged in to-go boxes? Trying to figure out how to maximize the QSDP. I figured we could keep most of desserts to snack on later throughout the day. This works IF they come in to-go packaging! Anyone know? I guess I could bring ziplocks lol

depends on where you are getting snacks from... a lot of places have pre-packaged snacks, like little boxes of "minnie's bakery" cookies.. or your typical candy bars.. but i personally wouldnt waste the snack credits on those.. if your in the actual candy stores/bakeries.. where you could get cupcakes, rice krispy treats, choc dipped marshmallows, cookies, etc - they can give you a plastic type box to transport it, but if your going to be hitting the parks for a while afterwards im not really sure how well they are gonna hold up.. if you are asking about the snack/dessert that will come with your quick service meal, which also will depend where you eat, i believe you can get a prepackaged choc chip cookie, a mousse that has a lid, a carrot cake in a little bowl w/ lid..

Most CS do have pre packaged desserts that you could eat later ( weather permitting) As far as snacks and some of the better cs places, you will need to bring something. Some of the bakeries have to go boxes but that's it. Zip locks would work for some items, but also bring a hard sided lidded container like the disposable Tupperware. I would bring something that has some depth though. Cupcakes, etc at DW are big.

Thanks for the info! There are five us 2 adults, 1 adult 10 year old lol, 7 year old and 2 year old (four on the QSDP). My husband and I usually don't eat desserts; however, the 10 year old does. I thought a great way to make the QSDP worthwhile was to save the dessert and eat it later as a snack. (mainly for the children) I figured this would make the QSDP cost effective. I will def have to take a look at the different desserts/snack options. I already know I am def getting a funnel cake and school bread lol. But, with only having one snack per person per day, I figured I could save the dessert and keep it as a snack for kids...

Honestly I would reconsider the qsdp . I was a huge fan of it until they raised the price and dropped a snack. The cs desserts shown ( carrot cake, chocolate cake) are EVERYWHERE and by day 3 we give them away. Especially since you are paying adult price for your 10 yo. You will do much better paying oop and ordering what you want. Your two little ones may prefer to share an adult meal since the kids meals are still seriously lacking at most places.

Many of the places now also have fruit instead of a dessert if you ask, which is what we tend to get to eat later

Thanks for this piece of advice; however, I have gone over the amounts/offerings very closely. I think it works for us because the 7 YO does mainly eat the childlike offerings like the pb and j and mac and cheese. Also the 10 year old will eat adult portions like my husband and I. The baby eats whatever we eat so he is fine eating off our plates. I have scoured menus and already know what I want lol. I have found that using the desserts in place of a snack (as we would likely use two snacks per person a day), we could honestly save 50-100 (depending if everyone else orders high like me )if we use desserts as snacks.

Also, depending on how big portions are on snacks we may not even use two a day. As I normally split with my kids.

Those CS desserts get old really quickly! Good luck! It sounds like you know what will work for your fam. We could not eat only CS for a whole week.

My two year old is very unpredictable for lack of better words. If he wasn't coming to disney we would NOT be doing mainly CS. We are doing one character meal at Chef Mickeys but that's it for this trip. Also, with it being so busy and close to our trip when we decided to go (only time we could as husband only has these days off that I do as well) march 30-April 5, many of the restaurants do NOT have opening left anyways. When we go again in a couple of years (when baby is 5 or 6) we def will not be eating this way! But thanks!

The best way to maximize the QSDP is to share meals. My DD8 and I almost always share a meal, this gives us an extra credit for later. Be aware that up to our last trip (AUG 2012) there was no distinction on your card between adult meals and kids meals on counter service only table service. This may have changed, but I know in August it was still possible. Meals in a lot of places are plenty for an adult and child to share.

In your situation, I'd have one adult share with the 7 year old and then later grab another adult counter service meal. In August, we had meals left at the end of our trip doing this and bought a family of 4 lunch with the extra credits!

I agree that the packaged ones do get old fast but we had the plan for 9 nights and I think we only got the packaged ones maybe 4-5 times. I enjoyed the choc. cake in the morning fresh out of the fridge. If you plan ahead you don't need to always have the prepackaged desserts.

I love having the QSDP. We've done it 3 times now and have done the reg. DDP around 6 times before. I do like not having to make ADRs. Makes things so much nicer.

I will say that we have a (rental) car with us so going to other locations for meals, like DDP or other resorts, is easy.

Ditto the sharing meals to max. credits. We have done it every time using DDP and it has worked well for us. Especially when 3 of us go. May times we get 2 meals and share 3 ways. Sometimes using a SC for an extra drink.
