Transportation From PORFQ
This will be our first family trip to WDW. We are 10 people; 4 adults, 2 seniors (in great shape), 4 kids ages 7-10.
Although we might have use of two cars we would really prefer using the Disney transportation system. We will be there in late July so I'm sure it will not only be hot but quite busy and spending long commute times would not be in our best interest. 1. I understand that PORFQ has buses to all the parks. How long should we allocate for MK? AK? Epcot? DHS? Are some parks more easily reached via car? 2. We made ADR's at: Akershus in Epcot 'Ohana at the Polynesian (is that reached via monorail from MK?) Mama Melrose/Fantasmic (best transportation to and from?) Tusker House Breakfast 8:30 am (best way to get there that early?) Hoop Dee Doo Show (where is it....how to get to?) 3. I know there is a 15 minute boat to DTD? We do plan to eat there once or twice. From DTD what transportation is available to the parks or do we have to come back to PORFQ first? Thanks for any advice......Karen |

Hello! We stayed at POFQ in May - it's our FAV resort! You all will LOVE it!!!
We used the Disney transportation the whole time. This resort has one bus pickup/drop off location so you won't have multiple stops to and from parks which is nice! It took us max 30min to get to the parks. We always did early magic hour and it seemed the buses where pretty empty going there and one time we were the only ones on the bus :-) The boat to DTD is a really nice relaxing ride and takes about 15-20min to get there. For your reservations you can take the bus to the parks. For Poly reservation, you can take bus to MK and then get on either the boat to poly or monorail to poly. Have fun and enjoy! Also, the food court at this resort has pretty good food. We ate dinner there quite a bit - it was good!

This is what touring plans.com has for commuting times from POFQ.
Commuting Times to the Parks PARK COMMUTING TIME Magic Kingdom 12 minutes Epcot 8 minutes Animal Kingdom 16 minutes Disney's Hollywood Studios 13 minutes Those times are most likely actual travel time once you are on the bus. If I was trying to make an ADR I would give myself at least an hour just in case the buses are unusually crowded or you arrive at the stop just after the bus you want has left and you have to wait 15 minutes for the next one. You should also take into consideration the time it will take to get from park entrance to your dining destination with that many people. Bus is always the best option for MK in our opinion Ohana from MK- yes take the monorail bus will be fine for the studios and EPCOT Buses start running early so you can take the bus to AK for your 8:30 ADR. I have never done Hoop Dee Doo so I don't have any advice for that one. There is not transportation to the parks from DTD to keep people from parking there for free. So head back to POFQ and catch a bus or if going to MK take a bus to the Contemporary and walk over or to the Poly or GF and Monorail over if you just want to ride the monorail Have fun!!!

For your Tusker House Breakfast I would drive since you said you have two cars. We always use Disney transportation but one year we did have a car and found driving to Animal Kingdom very easy. I would leave your resort by 7:45 am at the latest to give you time to drive, park and walk to Tusker House. If you don't have cars I would be at the bus stop about 7:30am.

Are you an iPhone user?
I have an iPhone app called TWiz, it's a 3rd party app for WDW transportation. (I don't know if they have an android equivalent.)
Using an easy menu, select your WDW departure point and WDW destination and it will provide every combination of transport between the two with approximate times. I don't know who provides the timings and cannot vouch for their accuracy but as a neat little app to tell you the alternatives from A to B, I like it |

Or if you wanted to go to Epcot, you could take the bus to Beach Club and walk to the International Gateway (perfect idea if you want to go directly to the World Showcase). |
