I am so glad our cruise is next week and not this weekend! I hope all of my fellow New Englanders are home safe. We're getting hit hard and the worst is yet to come. Expecting to lose power any time now, there have been many power outages in my town and neighboring town already.

On the bright side, a good weekend to be home bound as I still need to pack!

Yeah, me too. Well, after I unpack. I'm currently in a bar at DEN, homeward bound. Got a few door decorations to finish as well.

The wind has just started to pick up something fierce here along 95 in CT we have about a foot already the heavy wet snow from early this morning is making trees crack... DW was out snow blowing (we take turns) and a large limb came down near her.. Tomorrow may be a packing day A week from now at this time I will be sitting on a train heading south somewhere in the Carolinas.... BTW it's 79 right now in Port Canaveral

Wow! Glad she's ok. The wind is picking up here too, it's been bad for a while. Can't wait for that Caribbean weather! DH just went out plowing, that snow is heavy so they need to get a head start (he does residential and small businesses, private roads). The trouble with packing this weekend is he won't be home and DS can't know what I'm doing , but my 19 yo DD is homebound with us so hoping she can keep him occupied for a while.

5 more sleeps til WDW!

Fish Extender list is below. No change since last post.

I have changed the primary sort of this list from stateroom number to section (forward/midship/aft) then stateroom number. I have done this as the length of the fantasy is so long, it makes sense to deliver by section than by deck. This comes from experience as I think it took me as long to deliver 25 FE gifts on the Dream as it took me to deliver 125 FE gifts on the Magic. The distance between midship and aft is crazy long.
That's how I separated the list when I kept it the last few cruises I was on. (I had your job....the keeper of the FE List) It was a LOT quicker to go to each deck by separating forward/midship/aft. It's WAY too time consuming and WAY too much walking back and forth on each deck from forward to aft.

The first recorded instance of such nomenclature was Hurricane Santa Ana, which struck Puerto Rico in July 1825. In the early 20th century the United States used a similar convention, but included both secular and religious holidays. Perhaps the most famous example was the catastrophic "Labor Day Hurricane," which struck the Florida Keys on September 2 and 3, 1935, causing hundreds of deaths and ending Henry Flagler's dream of building a railroad to Key West.

The first formalized system of naming storms was created near the end of the 19th century by Australian meteorologist Clement Wragge, who started naming storms after letters of the Greek alphabet. Later he changed to using the names from Greek and Roman mythology, and later still to common feminine names. U.S. military meteorologists picked up the convention during World War II, but at the end of the war, the system that became formalized was one which used the military's phonetic alphabet (Able, Baker, Charlie, etc.). In 1953 the Weather Service switched over to feminine names; the very first was Tropical Storm Alice. In 1978, due to sexist overtones (male meteorologists referring to the stormy personalities of women they knew), male names began alternating with female ones in the Eastern North Pacific, and in 1979 the practice was extended to the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico region.

In that region there are six separate lists of names running from A through W, excluding the letters Q, U, X, Y and Z (names beginning with those letters are fewer and not as commonplace, and the intent is for names to be familiar and easy to remember). If the 21 remaining names are used up -- as happened in the 2005 season -- forecasters resort to the Greek alphabet. Every seventh year, the six lists repeat, so that Alberto, the name given to this year's first tropical storm, will appear again at the top of the list in 2012. Particularly costly or destructive storms have their names retired from the lists (Dennis, Katrina, Rita, Stan and Wilma were retired in 2005).

In addition to the Atlantic and Eastern North Pacific regions, there are regional lists for seven other regions of the world subject to tropical cyclones. Each list uses names common to the culture and language of local indigenous peoples to its region.
Thank you....I feel like I just sat through a history class while I was reading that.

If your power goes out, I hope it's not out for very long.

And I hope everyone getting slammed with this storm stays safe!

Well i have never seen anything like this. All roads in Mass. closed. Trees down everywhere. Spent the night with no electricity listening to the wind, praying a tree didn't fall on my house. It is hard to believe that in a week I will be standing on deck, looking at a blue ocean. One good thing, after this I am not too picky about the weather we get! Anything is better than Nemo!

Another Bronx born Yankee fan here!

I can't believe this snow - we have at least 30 inches of snow - my DH cleared our walkway and driveway late last night- and this morning, you would never know he had been out there. Like so many of you I am so glad this is happening now and not next week. Good Luck to those of you in New England - I see you have a few more hours ahead of you

This is what we were told when we called (they also said "subject to change")

Avengers, Brave, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, Finding Nemo, Lincoln and Wreck It Ralph

Now after this storm, I wonder how many of us will be seeing Nemo

To everyone in the northeast tht got racked by Nemo. I hope you get your electric back soon and be safe. Also be safe when you shovel the snow a back back on the cruise would really be a drag. In Philly we lucked out and got only about an inch or two.
