All day dining

We are going to SW next month and are wondering about the dining plan. I know that you get unlimited meals (main course, side or desert and a drink) at participating restaurants, but what about snacks? Can we just grab a desert and a drink, instead of the full meal at these restaurants? Can we just grab a bottle of water on our way out of the full meal? Is there enough variety to make this workout?

Thanks!

Cathy

The way the all day dining works is that you are entitled to:

- one entree (a plated meal, a slice of pizza, a breakfast tray of eggs/meat/hashbrowns, etc)

- one "side" (which can be a fruit cup, muffin, cookie, piece of cake, side salad, giant dill pickle, french fries, etc.) and

- one drink

each time through the line.

So you can grab a water and some fruit mid-day, then an hour later a piece of cake and a carton of milk, or a slice of pizza and a pop, or a full slate of all three options as long as you do so each time through the line. So you can't grab an extra water in addition to your drink during your initial time through the line, but can do so just before you leave if you don't mind going through the line up a second time.

We think the options at SeaWorld are very extensive. We LOVED the chicken finger meals at Mango Joes. We have eaten roast chicken & rib and beef brisket meals at Voyageurs (as well as a delicious breakfast platter), turkey bread bowls and chicken alfredo pasta at the Seafire Inn, a pizza and pasta buffet at the Terrace Garden, and we haven't even scratched the surface of what SeaWorld has to offer. Some places have wraps and sandwiches if you are looking for lighter fare.

You can't go wrong with all day dining. There is so much food choices. Even being an AP holder I haven't tried it all.

My son visits the dessert section many times throughout the day for chocolate cake and water.

The desserts are very good and very tempting.

Is the food only available at CS locations? Can you get a water or snack from a walk up type place? Assuming there are places like that (like they have in WDW). Its been so long since I have been to Sea World I cant remember.
Are the lines horrible at the counter service places? From what I have read n other posts, people seem to say that the lines are very long (if you wanted to go back and grab more food for a second time).
We would be traveling with my DD's new hubby who really likes to eat

Yes it is the CS places only. The drink and snack carts do not take the dining plan. It really depends on when you eat. There times there is no line and then yes there are the times when the lines are long. All locations have two lines and they usually go pretty fast. The only location that doesn't have a line is the terrace buffet. Its a pizza and pasta buffet. You pay outside before you enter (or show your wrist band). After you are in there is a room with a pizza station and two pasta and salad stations.

I have seen people when they are leaving and just want to grab a water just walk up and get one and then show the cashier.

If we get our tickets from UT, can we add the dining when we get there?

okay, here is another question ~ we would have 2 adults with the wrist bands, and 2 children (the other child will be 2 ~ so free); do our children have to get kids meals? Or can they get adult? I'm just thinking that wouldgive us enough food so we would not have to go back through the line to get a kids meal for our daughter who is not on the plan.

I am pretty sure your 2 year olds have to eat off your plate, they would not be eligible for a full meal since they did not pay for the meal plan. It's like in disney, when a child is free, they eat off the parents plate. We had the dining a few years ago and my older (5 years old) children had to get a kids meal, they were not eligible for an adult meal. My 2 year old at the time, shared whatever we got.

Thanks for the clarificaiton! I read somewhere, must have been another thread, that I could get my 2 year old her own plate, I would just have to go through the line again, which could be a pain if it is crowded. I don't mind sharing!

Yes that was me and you are allowed to go through the line as many times as you want. We do it all the time and was actually told by a SW employee about it. All you have to do is go through the line again and get another plate of food and she can have her own meal.

Adults can order kids meals or adult meals. A child must order only from the kids meal options.

Yes you can purchase your dining plan there. In fact we like to go to voyager for breakfast when the park opens and you can buy your wrist bands there. The participating restaurants sell them. Just be sure when you get to the cashier you let them know you are buying the all day dining. Helps prevent the number of lines you have to wait in if you do it that way.

Great...we might have plenty without her needing her own meal, but it's nice to have that option!

Thanks for the info!
