Just paid off a CC that was 0% interest but huge minimum payment! More $$ for the snowball!

Call and ask them to waive the late fee; usually they will do so with no problems, especially if you have a history of paying on time and if you call them right away.

I am in! I started with 6K in beginning of 2013, now am down to 4500. After my tax return I will be down to 2500! That remainder is a credit card that doesn't have interest right now but I will pay that off in no time!

After that I have $25K in student loans. My goal is to pay off $10K this year. My main focus was my credit cards because they have high interest rates.

I just paid off an $800 balance today that I have had since 2005! It feels great.

Congrats on paying off your cc!! It really does feel great when atleast one of them gets paid off!! And when you see the balances really dropping I think it gives you even more motivation!

DH had a lot of OT, and we got our tax refund yesterday. I'm having a hard time parting with the few thousand dollars to pay off debts. I'll eventually do it, but I like the money sitting in our account. We are following DR, and we have our BEF, as well as sinking funds. It feels good to be in control!

I know how you feel about parting with the money! I am still waiting on my return to be deposited, and every cent is going towards debt. I wish it were my fun money and I could take a vacation on it! But I keep looking at the big picture..... I should have my debt paid off by March 29th!!

Email the cc company and explain that it was a accidental oversight and am them if they will forgive the late fee, I have done this twice in the last year, both times, it was refunded to me.

What kind of phrasing do you use? I did the same thing on my Disney VISA card last week. I noticed it, and paid, a few hours after the deadline. D'oh!

I would just call them and talk to them. Tell them that as long as you've had the cc you have not been late and you had an oversight and paid a few hours after the deadline, can they please wave the fee this one time.

I've been MIA for a couple of weeks, but in that time, I've met all my goals and last night I scheduled my first "big" payment on Priority #1 line of credit. The current balance is $2650 and I scheduled a $500 payment for this week and another $800 payment from my next paycheck. So, that should cut it in half by the end of the month!

I also picked up one extra shift at my second job, which should net me about $400 extra this month. I can't decide if I should just bank it or put it towards the line of credit. I may earmark it for my tax bill (about $1200 due in April).

ETA: Congrats to all of those who are sticking with it and hang in there to those who have hit some rough patches!
