AAU Gymnastics Nationals
So I just found out the week I'm going to be at Disney (June 8-15) is the AAU Gymnastics championships. Has anyone ever been there that week how much more crazy/busy is it going to be?? We are not staying at ALl-star sports or CB which seem to be the resorts the gymnast will be at. Will that make a difference?

I haven't been there during that event. But what I've heard is that for most of these types of events (i.e. athletic stuff), there is not much impact on the parks. The only impact is on the resorts where the groups are staying. If you aren't at their resorts, then it should be fine.
Although, I should add that the week you are going is a pretty busy time (the beginning of the summer season). But it's not busy because of the gymnastics event. |

Thanks for the encouragement. I'm hoping due to activities going on at dwwos maybe the majority of the busy-ness will be there.
I wish we could go during non peak time but with 2 high schoolers in advanced classes its impossible. Although I'm still trying to convince DH a kid-free trip would be amazing!! |

My daughter competed several years ago (placed 2nd overall in her age group!). I agree with ghtx regarding the affect this event has on the parks. Disney hosts athletic events all the time. As far as the resort is concerned, most of the athletes are competing at different times etc. so you aren't going to notice a large group of athletes traveling together. I would say this should not be a major concern for you.
