Leave the end of June, or beginning of July for our trip?

Came up with another question tonight. I am about to book our flights as I had to wait because I was interviewing for a new job and wasn't sure what date I could fly out yet. We want to go as soon as school lets out as possible, but also be there for the 4th for the fireworks.
So, my new question is do I push it all up a little later and leave July 2 to maybe the 10th (we are doing 2 days at universal first) Or better to keep it to leaving the 26th or 27th to the 4th or 5th? Will that be better to avoid tour groups? Flights have gone up while I was waiting so it would be slightly cheaper to leave later, but if the groups don't usually come in until after the 4th then might be worth it to go earlier.

any thoughts from all you experts out there? thanks again.

thanks Robo, that is what I was leaning towards, but almost considering August now as I am reading it is less crowded, but we may have friends visiting that month from our of the country and need to prepare and be here for that, of course.
And dh does not want to really go in August as humidity rises.

If you plan on going the week of the 4th of July prepare yourself for being squished and barely being able to walk but I must say the fireworks on the 4th of july are amazing!!!! Nothing like ive ever seen before!

yes, We did decide to stick with those early dates. We will be leaving for home the morning of the 5th. Will plan Epcot for the 4th, made an ADR there for dinner. We were there for our first trip at the same time, I remember flying home on the 3rd and then finding out if we had stayed 1 more night we could have seen the fireworks.
But I do not remember the crowds being unmanageable, of course it was 8 years ago, but I followed all the advice on these boards, went early to parks and took midday breaks. Kids were younger so we didn't always go back at night. We try to take advantage of nighttime EMH, as we find you can get on more rides then, now that the kids are older. I thought it was more crowded during our early December trip. We will park hop if need be.
It all won't matter as much once we are in the magic anyway!
