Standard Studios (Partial Savanna) at Jambo House

Are all the rooms on the 5th floor of Jambo House DVC?

I also have a question about the Savanna rooms that were reclassified as Standard rooms. Are those rooms only at the end of the Kudu Trail?

I'm trying to help a friend plan a trip. She has reserved a Standard Studio at Jambo House using DVC points, and she wants information about what area to request. Originally, I thought the Standard Studios were only pool-view, but I'm reading otherwise. If she decides she wants a partial savanna room, what is the best way to request that?

I was wondering this too. My mother had booked a standard view through DVC for my brother years ago and his view was a savanna view/ pool view. My sister booked a standard room with cash and received a pool view.
Many yrs ago my mother booked a standard view and got the parking lot, so I am confused what a Standard DVC room is in AKL.
I just saw that a standard view is available for when we want to go, but I'm not sure what kind of view that is.
It's all so confusing.

For DVC points, most of the standard villas at Jambo House are pool view, but some have a partial view of the savanna (like near the people pens - emergency evacuation areas in case of fire). At Kidani Village, standard view will be pool/parking lot/partial savanna view. Savanna views are savanna. Value villas (only at Jambo House) may be savanna, pool or parking lot and the view is not able to be requested. You get what you get.

For cash, standard view is pool/parking lot at Jambo House. Savanna is savanna.

Yes, most of this I know. I guess I just need to know where the people pens are. I'm just trying to figure out where the partial savanna rooms are that are categorized as Standard.

Most of the 5th floor is DVC except for the two suites and most of the rooms that face the parking lot. Only six of the parking lot view rooms were converted to DVC.

We were in a std. studio room last August that had a view of the savanna. It was room 5584. A dedicated studio. It was the last room in the hall. Long walk, but nice view of the animals.

Hi Lisa:

For your list . . . in December, I was assigned 5348 as a standard view studio which is the same back area of that savanna I keep getting [I've been in 5384 twice] that has a view of the people pen and animal stables. Heck of a long walk, but you do get to see alot of the animals. I must admit, I miss the days of guaranteed pool view with a standard. There's a reason these savanna views are reclassified.

My standard/partial savannah room was one over the people pen, but honestly, unless you look straight down, you don't really see it. I was thrilled by the view, especiallly since the month beforehand, I'd paid savannah view points for a room with virtually the same view. I'm at work for 9 more hours, then tonight or tomorrow, I'll post a picture of my standard room so you can see-I thought the people pen had minimal impact on my view.

LisaS, looking at the map, several of these rooms are on the Zebra Trail; however, on another thread I see you mentioning if you want a partial savanna view to request the Kudo Trail. Why not just request partial savanna view? Am I not looking at the map correctly?

In that thread the OP listed the choices available on the dropdown menu on the online check-in screen for a Standard View room. The choices the OP mentioned were "5th floor" and "Kudu Trail" and asked if it was worthwhile selecting one of those. I mentioned that there was no benefit to selecting "5th floor" but that there was a benefit to selecting "Kudu Trail" if the people staying in that room might like a reclassified room. (The pool is on the Zebra trail so selecting "Kudu Trail" would exclude pool-view rooms but yes it would also exclude those reclassified rooms that are on the Zebra Trail.)

I agree that a better option would be to call MS and ask them to add a request for a "reclassified room" or "savanna view" or something along those lines if that is the desired room type. Assuming that the list we see in online check-in is the same list that MS sees when we book a room then MS will have to type it in which can be hit or miss. It was a near miss for us the last time we stayed at Kidani. I asked MS to add "low floor" as a request and since it wasn't one of the predefined options the MS CM typed it in. When we got to Kidani we learned we were assigned to the top floor. The check-in CM noticed the request on our reservation and said "It looks like the room assigner didn't see your request" and reassigned us to the 2nd floor so it worked out in the end.

Thank you. That makes sense. I have rented my DVC points to someone and am helping her plan the trip. I figured I would request either "pool view" or "savanna view" depending on which she prefers.

Hi All, wanted to add 5582 to the running list as I just checked in.

5582 is a lock-off Studio, on the Arusha/Uzima border, second to last room on Zebra trail right near the exit stairs. Seeing Zebra, Warthogs, and Ostriches off the balcony right now
