Any Disboarders live in the Poconos?

We are seriously looking to get small second home in the Poconos. So what I am looking for is to get an idea of what towns or communities to start searching. Being not far from somewhere nice to ski and play on.
Any help would be appreciated.
Chris

I'm not sure if she's active very much but Kanga lives near there I believe. If you don't get info from someone else PM me your email and I'll email Kanga.

About 10 years ago, my parents sold a second home in Arrowhead Lake area in Blakeslee. We loved it there, but it's not new at all. Old, old homes. Gated community with pools and beaches. And lots of deer!!!

I live in the poconos and the Blakeslee / Pocono Lake area is a good one , your are close to jack frost and big boulder ski areas which are nice. The other one would be the Tannersville / Reeders area in which case you are close to camelback ski resort . This one is also close to the premium outlets and the casino.

We unfortunately had to sell ours in Four Seasons at Camelback. It was a lovely area you may find good deals there. Built around 2005. Wish we still had it our youngest starts at East Stroudsburg University in fall.

We are looking for a log or chalet style. Gated community sounds good, are they????????? Somewhere to spend the holidays and some weekends. While giving the kids the chance to explore the winter sports. Who doesnt like doing a little snowmobiling or quading once in a while.

Not to hijack the thread, but my oldest was accepted at ESU for the fall too. I think he has decided to go to Kutztown though (or Messiah College, which is his first choice, but not the most affordable choice!)

My friend has a place in Masthope Community. It's Ski Big Bear and there is a lake and a great pool for the summer.

One thing to keep in mind is the further East you are, the higher your property/school taxes will be. Near Stroudsburg, ours were very high. Nearer to Hazelton, not so much. MarcyinPA we looked at Kutztown too. It is a lovely campus but didn't really have the major my son was looking for.

My friend does too! We've done our last 3 "girl's weekends" at her house.
I really like it up there.
Db/sil have a house on Lake Ariel (not sure if that's exactly in the Poconos).
We have also vacationed in the Tannserville area and there are a few communities there as well.

We lived in Indian Mountain Lakes for 18 months. My parents still live there and my sister has a second home there. It's a large gated community with lakes, a community clubhouse, tennis courts, a pool, park and open spaces, not too far from the Pocono Raceway(maybe 6 miles or so). It's right up the mountain from Effort, PA. Jack Frost and Big Boulder Ski Resort are both close by as well. If you take the backroads(715) you're only like 30 mins from Camelback, the outlets and tons of shopping as well. My Dad use to be a Ski Patroller at Jack Frost.

It's a great community.
