My Vegetarian review - Disney Dream
I know we had a thread going a few weeks ago about different vegetarian options on the ship, and now that I've been, I thought I'd share my opinion. Bear with me as I am not much of a food critic.
Curly Endive, Arugula and Watercress Salad
Sliced Peaches, Toasted Almonds and tossed with a Sherry Vinaigrette
The dressing was good but the salad itself was a little too earthy tasting for me
Creamy Butternut Squash Soup
Garnished with Chives and drizzled with Sour Cream
This was awesome! My 3 yr old ate most of it. I found the recipe online and hope to make it soon.
Black Truffle Pasta Purseittes
Pasta Purse filled with Truffle scented Cheese and coated with a delicate Champagne Sauce
This was good. I would have liked a little more of the champagne sauce.
Crunchy Walnut Cake
Dark Chocolate Mousse and Raspberry Coulis
Also very good.
Baby Spinach Salad
Tender Spinach tossed with fresh sliced Seasonal Pears, Toasted Pine Nuts and Crumbled Gorgonzola
This was good -not earthy tasting at all. The pine nuts, gargonzola, and pears, were a good combination.
Glazed Portobello Mushrooms
With Brown Lentil and Parsley Sauce and Sun-dried Tomato Cream Drizzle
This was my least favorite meal. The mushrooms were cut thick, and it was just a little too much mushroom for me. The lentils were in an interesting green sauce that was ok. Not gross, but ok.
Cucumber Garden Roll filled with Julienne of Carrots, Bell Peppers and Zucchini, flavored with Cilantro and dressed with White Shoyu Lemon Dressing
This was a little bland, but healthy, so I ate it.
Banana Foster Sundae
Rum-glazed Bananas, Vanilla Ice Cream, Whipped Cream, and Caramel Sauce
Tastes how it sounds. The rum settled to the bottom so the last bite has a little kick to it
With Iceberg and Radicchio Leaves and an Orange Vinaigrette
This was my favorite salad I had on board. I loved the dressing. It was mildly tangy, sweet, and not vinegar based.
Double Baked Spinach and Cheese Soufflé
Coated with a Three-Cheese Cream
This was yummy. Before the cruise, the only cheese souffle I had was an egg and cheese one at Paneras. This one was much softer. It was different, but good. I would probably order again on a future cruise.
Wild Mushroom filled Pasta in a Vegetable Broth (Vegetarian)
Topped with Watercress, shaved Parmesan Cheese, and a Paprika Oil Drizzle
I was surprised at how much I liked this. I had never had ravioli in a broth before. The broth was rich and flavorful, and went well with the mushroom ravioli.
Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brûlée
With Almond Biscotti
Pretty much the best dessert in the world.: We
disembarked on Thursday and I still think about it everyday.
And that's it for the MDR's. We ate at Palo on Pirate Night. Let me know if you want my review for that as well.
