Thank you - we want to do as many as possible lol. Makes us sound really bad but we try to do things like that wherever we go in the world. Mark is really into trying different ales - the best place we stopped at a brewery was in Flam - one of the Norwegian Fjords

Nope, doesn't make you sound bad at all. I always enjoy trying a variety of tastings because it introduces me to new brands or types of drinks I would have never considered trying on my own.

So a co-worker spent a semester in Barcelona and I thought I would share her email to me with everyone. Not sure what the last part says....
So you absolutely have to go to…

Parc Guell - the park designed by Gaudi with the crazy ceramic architecture. The kids will love it and the views of the city from there are pretty awesome

Sagrada Familia - that steeple church they’re taking forever to build. The work inside is really intricate and worth seeing

Monserrat – a natural park just outside of Barcelona that is in the canyons. A cool day trip

Las Ramblas – this is the busiest street where all the street performers, shops, and artists go. Things are pretty expensive in this area though and at night things get pretty crazy there, wouldn’t bring the kids there past 9

Palau de la Musica Catalana – the shows here are expensive but the venue is gorgeous so you should go visit it

Casa Batllo – this is that apartment complex designed by Gaudi. The areas pretty ritzy and fun to walk around in (with some Sangria, of course!)

CosmoCaixa – this is a science museum that is supposed to be pretty fun for the kids, but I’ve never been.

Maybe see a Flamenco show? When I was there I visited a friend that worked at Tablao de Carmen, which is one of the more touristic locations but still a pretty authentic performance.

Also – you must eat Paella!

There are a million things to do here, and you’re going to have a blast!

Hablas español? En Barcelona la gente habla catalán y que puede ser muy difícil de entender pero la mayoría sabe español e Inglés en la ciudad. Por lo menos la gente va a entender "una cervesa" o "Vino, por favor", y que es todo lo que necesitas saber en España para tener un viaje maravilloso  Disfruta tu viaje!

My high school Spanish is very rusty. But the gist of it is:

Do you speak Spanish? IN Barcelona the people speak Catalan and it can be very hard to understand, but the majority of people know Spanish and English in the city. For the minority (?) of people will understand "A beer" or "wine, please" and that is all that is necessary to know in Spain to have a great time.

(I may have gotten parts of that wrong.)

ETA I am rereading it and I think it might be, "For the minority of people you are going to meet, "a beer"...."

I'm impressed! Seems like you learned a lot in HS Spainish! I asked for a translation and she provided "Do you speak Spanish? In Barcelona the people speak catalan and that it can be very difficult to understand, but most know Spanish and English in the city. At least people will understand 'a beer' or 'Wine, please', and that is everything you need to know in Spain to have a wonderful trip. Enjoy your trip!"

I forgot the "Enjoy your trip" part.

It wasn't really my high school Spanish. When I graduated from high school I went to Mexico for six weeks and did a Spanish immersion school. I lived with a family that only spoke Spanish while going to school about three hours per day. Unfortunately, I forgot most of it over the years. But sometimes I surprise myself and can get the general meaning of things I read or hear. My accent is also pretty good (for Mexico, my accent for Spain would be terrible ) but I don't remember it enough to speak it. Much easier to translate than to speak for me.

When the Fantasy sailed from Germany / Netherlands to NYC, it sailed with crew, select crew family, and select DCL guests. Since this is not uncommon, it would not surprise me if the Magic sailed WBTA empty ... especially since the T/A cruises are not big money makers for DCL.

Isn't that work that will be done during the major dry dock in 2013? Tink1987 was referring to a WBTA in fall 2014.

My fav is true hard cider (like in the pubs in the UK) and they actually have it on tap on the Fantasy and Dream - I'm not much of a beer drinker, but that is not beer and I really like it!

We try to do these too - like the wine one as I am not very knowledgeable about wine but I know by tasting what I like and don't like, and I've found some reasonable priced ones that I can get back home

And no, it doesn't sound bad - heck, you are on vacation!

DH is into good beer (NOT many American brews fit that category) and also single malt whiskey.....so we do enjoy while we are traveling too!
