Lifeboat view?! Boo?!?
I just read our stateroom review and it says that we have a lifeboat view from our verandah. I tried to search the forum for pictures--but just trying to get an idea of what that will look like. We are on the Dream in 6592.
Anyone have a picture!? Thanks!!

Rest assured there are no cabins on the Dream that I am aware of that have a lifeboat in front of your verandah. The lifeboats are probably right under your verandah but that does not restsrict your view looking out. You may not be able to see straight down to the water below, but you will have a perfectly fine view out and to the horizon.
I would consider this a non issue in the scheme of things. From your sig it looks like this will be your first cruise. I doubt this will much of an impact on your overal enjoyment of the cruise. MJ

As noted by the PP this is not a big deal. We've stayed on both decks 6 & 7 and have really enjoyed the verandahs on each. It's great to just sit & relax with a glass of wine.
Nothing to worry about.

Same reaction about our view!
I bought the Passporter book and it says that we have a "white wall" verandah?? So I did the same as you--frantic to find pictures of our "view" and "white wall"--our first cruise as adults (with kids, too) so I"m sure all will be well. We are sailing on the Fantasy on deck 10.

We were in room 6558 on the Dream and we did not even notice the lifeboats. I was worried before hand, but as pp stated, you will only notice if you are looking directly down. It will not be an obstruction to your view or enjoyment at all!

The attached thread are pictures with locations of rooms and activities overlayed on it. This might help

Thanks everybody--your posts definitely made me feel better! Although, that picture makes me a bit nervous, lol! I'm sure it will be fine!

We will be in room 6592 on the Fantasy next week. I will post a pic for you when we get back. I'm assuming the rooms on the Fantasy are the same as on the Dream.

Basically, all the verandah rooms on the new ships have a "lifeboat view" if you stand at the edge, lean over, and look straight down. Most people look OUT from their verandah, not down.

whenever someone complains about life boats I think about that scene where they complain about them taking up space, and then I think of the last scenes when they wish they had life boats

And I'm not complaining about the actual lifeboats. I'm whining about the view--there's a difference! ![]() From the pic, I just thought that it looked like--even sitting down--you'd see the lifeboat. As I said, the posts definitely made me feel better!

We stayed in a deck 6 room on the Dream last year. I was also worried about the view of the lifeboats. Just as previous posters have said, they only prevent you from looking directly down at the water. In fact, we loved the location of our cabin so much, we'll be staying on deck 6 on the Fantasy in a few weeks - with the same view.

We had room 6614 above a life boat and still had an incredible view. No worries.
