Fantasy Debarkation

Hi All - I am arranging private transfer pick up times for debarkation on the Fantasy. Is it still a long wait and chaos getting off the ship? We'll need to be on time outside for our pick up. Flights are at 12:00. Any suggestions on pick up time and when to get in the line to get off the ship?
Thanks!

We got on a really long line on Sat at 8:45 and it was about 60 minutes from getting on line to through customs. I suggest getting on line earlier than that. I heard that there was almost no line a little before 8.

My family and I were on the Fantasy on the 5th of Jan and had no issues getting off the ship. We were assigned a 6:45 breakfast, then we got off the ship, got out bags, went through customs and got on the bus. We arrived at the airport by 9:30 am. That whole thing was a blur, before we were even fully awake, we were at the airport. . Our flight time was 12:45, so we had plenty of time. Enjoy your trip.

We have only had an issue getting off the ship after the EBPC cruise, which happens when you aren't on a closed loop cruise. We have early dining and just walk off the ship on all of our other cruises.

debarkation

Thanks for the replies, looks like I need to be ready to wait in lines an hour before our pick up time. I just don't want our driver to have to wait for us. Any other recent Port Canaveral debarkation experiences out there?

I would think the car service you are using would be telling you what time they are there since they do this week in and week out.

We were on the Jan. 12th Eastern Fantasy. Despite a delay in being disembarked, we were to the Budget rental car location on their first shuttle bus and on our way to Downtown Disney by 8:20 a.m.

What made a huge difference for us was to be up and out of the cabin by 7:15 with our luggage in hand...we did not set our luggage out the night before. We grabbed coffee and fruit from Cabana's and then were ushered into a line by the theater entrance. Once the "all clear" was given, we were taken ahead of those that had checked their luggage the night before, and went straight to customs.

Budget had suggested that we try to be on one of the first shuttles so that we could have the time that we wanted in Downtown Disney before making our way to the airport for our 3:15 flight.

We are taking Disney bus to the airport. Should we take our luggage with us in the morning and get the first bus out. Our flight is at 11:45.

Disney Bus

I have never used the Disney transportation, I would think they have a system set up. In the past I have taken early flights and told guest services I needed to be in the first boarding group off, not carrying own luggage. We were just always ready to exit at 7:30 am. I do not think they use that group system any more. If you do not have a lot of luggage it can't hurt to carry your own. We always have too much!

Hi TV Guy- The convenience of hiring private transportation is they will pick you up on your schedule. Being that we do not need to be the first ones off the ship, (like I have done in the past) I am trying to figure out how long it takes to get out of the "cattle call".

25+ DCL cruises and counting, most returning to Port Canaveral.

3 times, we encountered serious Customs delays. In those 3 cases, there were lines and it was a mess. The rest of the time, there tends to be a short line of people wanting to get off the ship "right away." OP has NO need to be in this bunch. Another line tends to form about 8:45 as all the people wanting to wait till the last minute finally decide that it has to end. We have encountered no line or less than a 5 minute wait any time we tried to exit between 7:50 and 8:30 with the exception of the 3 times there were Customs delays and no one could get off. On the Fantasy, we encountered NO delay at all. We had late breakfast and walked right off the ship after we'd finished eating.

There are a couple of different luggage systems...If you have onboard check in (OP does not), you will place your luggage outside your room on the last night and see it at your HOME airport. YUP..Magic.
If you do not have onboard check in, you can choose to place your lugggage outside the cabin the night before and reclaim it in the terminal upon arrival...and take it to your transportation OR you can just keep it with you and roll it off yourself in the morning (self-disembarkation). Guests doing the self disembarkation can get off at any time, but they do have a priority time before other guests are allowed to get off while the luggage from the night before is being placed in the terminal. Since they don't have to claim luggage, they can walk off the ship and thru Customs.

The luggage system is easy--you are given tags with a color and character on them and your bags will be arranged by sections identified with those colors/characters. WIthin the section, they start off in numerical order, but that doesn't last too long as other guests paw thru them...porters are there to help you.

Reality--when I was a mom with little one, it was by far the easiest to put the luggage out the night before . Now that the "little one" is bigger than I am and I limit our luggage to one rolling case per person, it is easier to take it off ourselves. We've done this on the last 2 cruises. It only saves 5-10 minutes, but it is nice to avoid the luggage hunt.

Some other lines do a system where you are assigned to a group and wait till your group is called before you can exit. Honestly, I like DCL's system EXCEPT when Customs delays the ship clearing. Then it is a pain.

OP, I'd schedule your pick up at 8:45 or something like that. Get off at 8:30, go thru Customs, and your vehicle will be waiting for you.

For the person with the 11:45 flight, there is no need to be on the first bus. Do whatever you feel best about the luggage. It takes about 45 minutes to get to MCO, so as long as you are not on the last bus, you'll be fine.

When cruising out of Vancouver, they do call luggage groups due to minimal room for luggage to be placed in the terminal.

Absolutely right that some of the smaller ports do need to call luggage groups. That's where taking your own luggage can really speed things up. However, OP said Fantasy, so I assumed Port Canaveral.

Going in and out of some of the other ports really makes one appreciate PC.
