questions abouts Toy Story Mania - The DIS Discussion Forums

We are just wondering what is offered at toy story mania and around that area for a family with a child of 5 yrs old. Any pictures and discriptions would help.

Usually there is a green army man or even the Sarge in the are signing autographs. It is decorated Pixar and you can get popcorn and snacks across the way. Oh, and TSM as said. Were you looking for something specific?

I was actually wondering if there are any other rides or attractions near there for our family to go to? I have not been to disney since 2005 before we had kids and it was called MGM ... Thanks

There is a Buzz and Woody M&G directly across from TSM.

Toy Story Mania is in Pixar Place. It is a really cool area with great theming. Your 5 year old will love the ride. If he likes the Toy Story characters, there is also a meet and greet.

Honestly, I would just skip HS with a 5-year-old. The Buzzlight year at MK is practically the same thing sans the 3D. Some young kids don't even like wearing the glasses.

After TSM, I can't remember anything there that my grandsons liked. The Great Movie Ride scared them both at the robber scene and fire. A child of about 5 that was in front of us in the ride got hysterical.

Just not enough for little ones to justify the time and effort of going to a separate park, especially since essentially the same ride exists at MK.

There's a lot more to Hollywood Studios than Toy Story Mania. Last time we were there our youngest was 4 and his favorites (aside from TSM) were Indiana Jones, Backlot Tour, Lights Motors Action, the Pixar parade, and the Muppets.

Perhaps a guide book would be a good place to start? The Passporter guidebook or the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World are both good ones. There are lots of resources online too, of course.

We just returned with our 3 year old granddaughter. She enjoyed Disney Junior Live on Stage which is between the park entrance and TSM. You see/meet a lot of the characters on the Disney Junior Channel on TV. Then in that same general area is a building where you have photo ops with Wizard Mickey "as my grandson calls him" and Power Rangers or others.

No Power Rangers but along with Sorcerer Mickey in that building are the Incredibles and, at the moment, Ralph and Vanellope from Wreck-It-Ralph.

My, at the time, DN4's favorite ride at DHS was ToT.

I would not skip HS... i think toy story mania is a lot better! There is a lot to see at HS for the younger croud!!! That's just my 2 cents!! if you have the time and you can park hop... go and see for yourself and if you do not like what you see... go to another park! just enjoy

While DHS is not my favourite park I would never tell another person to skip it! There are certainly lots of things for a younger person to enjoy. Besides the M&Gs, and TSM, there is as was mentioned the Disney Junior Live on Stage, Jedi Training Academy, all of the other stage shows, the parade, MuppetVision, the backlot tour, the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground. And unless he's a bit timid, he might also like the Great Movie Ride (he might be scared of the Alien scene) and the Legend of Captain Jack Sparrow.

IMO that would certainly be enough to take up the better part of a day.
