'Ohana and Wishes

What time do I need to make my ADR for at 'Ohana to ensure we get to view Wishes? We will be going in September so Wishes will probably start at 9pm.

From what I understand you can't see it very well from inside the restaurant unless you get a window seat (which are very few).

We have a late dinner reservation (9:15) because it's our first night and we're arriving from the west coast so it's really more like 6:15 dinner time for us.

We plan to go to the Poly beach area to watch Wishes at 8 and go to dinner after.

For wishes at 9 I'd plan a 7:00-7:15 reservation time.

For a 9pm Wishes, I would do a 8-8:15 ADR. We were able to get a window table back in 2010. I will say that it was cool to watch and eat, BUT if I had to pick I would eat a early and go watch it from the Poly beach. I really think that Wishes is better that way.

We are also going in September Have a good trip.

Going early and watching from the Beach seems to be the consensus. On our last trip (Dgf's first trip) that was how we watched Wishes to avoid the crowds. It was spectacular. I'm planning on us having 'Ohana dinner reservations on the day I propose so that we can have Wishes be our perfect ending to the perfect day kinda thing.

We had a 6:40 reservaton 2 wks ago and were able to see an 8 PM show. We were seated at the furthest table in the back corner. Folks from our table were able to stand against the wall without blocking others' view and saw the fireworks wonderfully!

But 3 days later, we watched them from the Hub. There's nothing like it.

Yea I'm pretty excited about it. She has no idea about the trip or that I'm even planning it. Right now the deal is that I'm going to pop the question while we are on the Wild Africa Trek in AK.

People book Ohana early and nurse their meal so that they can see Wishes from Ohana. Our dinner should have been the perfect time to see Wishes, but we didn't even get seated until long after it was over because people just don't leave the place. Once it was over, the place emptied out. Before that, people were waiting, waiting, waiting to be seated.

You get a better view on the beach.

1) What will happen if you can't see Wishes from a table?
2) Will it ruin the day?
3) I would not build up expectations.
4) Only a few of the tables have a view, and those are coveted.
5) Unbfortuntely, no guarantee that you can get one of those tables.

By the time we get to 'Ohana we will both be so excited to be engaged (I'm hoping) that the rest of the day won't matter. Know what I'm saying? Doesn't mean I can't try for a cherry on top though.

We had an 8:15pm adr, had a window table and were there for Wishes. It was nice, but the trees somewhat obstruct the view. We did enjoy the dinner though.

I just want to add that just because you have a window table, it doesn't mean you're going to be able to see Wishes. We've sat several times at a window table with a great view of a palm tree, you could just barely see parts of the castle thru the palm leaves.

If you go in September be mindful of MNSSHP which I believe would be an 8:30 Hallowishes. Watching Wishes from Ohana is one of our family's favorite things. I feel the need for a window seat is over rated. We have never had a window seat and could see Wishes fine. There aren't a lot of tables that don't have a decent view of the show.
