As a solo, try to find ways to incorporate the parks in your day. . .CMs are awesome for helping to take pics, bringing characters to you when you dine solo at a character meal, asking for photo location tips, etc. The rest is up to you. Just go with an open mind and have fun. Talk to everyone. . .

Hey swimrider,

Disney solo is fun!!
You are free to come & go as you please, no one else to worry about but yourself. I echo what nurse.darcy said.

I have been to Disney Solo.
My next solo trip is coming up March 6-12 for my birthday.

Don't be shy about asking ppl to take pics for you. CM's have been very nice taking pics for me, as well as servers at Character Meals. Character escorts will also take pics for you.

Seeing I was alone, I have even had families sitting near me, offer to take pics for me with characters during Character Meals.

Get a photopass (they are free). Anytime you see a photopass photographer get your pic taken. I always get loads of pics on photopass and make an album of my trips on Disney's Photopass site.

Definately talk to other ppl.
I have socialized with so many nice ppl on my solo trips.
Enjoy yourself, and the parks!!

I love my solo trips! I get to do what I want when I want. Want to sleep in or get to the parks early? Ride your favorite ride over and over or try a new ride. Eat when and where you want. The wonderful thing is it's YOUR TRIP!

Hey Michelle! I'll be in WDW March 10-12 - maybe we can meet up!

Ditto on all of the above!

I am headed in April for my 3rd solo trip. I LOVE them!

You take things at YOUR pace. No worries, a true vacation. If you want to sleep in, you do. If you want to be at rope drop and go until the park closes, you do! It's all about YOU.

I have found that once CMs realize you are solo, they do make the little extra effort for you. I have had some great TS meals where I get more interaction with not only the Server, but the Host, and other guests!

Find a quiet spot and people watch! That can be as much fun as some of the attractions.

I have never felt lonely or at odds because I am eating by myself or telling a CM "single rider". In fact, on the attractions with the single rider line, (Expedition Everest is my favorite) I ride again, and again, and again . . .

Relax and have fun!!!! It's what the World is really all about.

Hey Michelle,
I saw you wrote that you're going on a solo trip to WDW for your birthday, and this something i've been thinking about doing, but i'm afraid i'd feel too lonely being alone on my birthday.
Have you done this before? do you have any tips?

Thanks,
Ariela.

I did my first solo trip last May and it was wonderful. I did a split stay between POR And POFQ. People were very friendly and I had a great time meeting new people. I didn't do any sitdown retaurants, but found that sitting at the bar was a great alternative. I could order off of the menu and the bartenders were great. I did get a lot of "just you?", but most didn't mean it in a rude way.

I was able to go on all of the rides I wanted at my pace, but the best part was strolling around the different resorts. I can never do that when the kids are there. I was also able to relax at the pools and read some books. Heavenly!

just returned on my first solo trip last week... and it was AMAZING! Best trip I've taken so far... and I'm not one to feel comfortable by myself normally. It was great doing whatever I wanted, eating whatever I wanted... so much freedom, so relaxing.... stress-free. Would DEFINITELY do it again

Actually this is the one trip I do for my birthday as well. this year the 9 day trip it happens to fall on my birthday and I love it. I have to say it's not about being lonely, it's about doing what you want when you want. I have reservations at Victoria and Alberts on my birthday and I can't wait. I have no issue eating alone, walking the park or riding rides alone. sometimes I meet up with people....if I choose to. sometimes you get some special attention because you are solo. if you want to sit and read next to the lagoon at the Rose and Crown, you can, no one can make do anything you're not up for. think of it as the one time in life you can be completely selfish and no one can be mad about it! it's well deserved "me time"

I am a 47 year old guy and this is my 3rd solo trip to WDW in the past 4 years. I also lived in CA and went to DL solo over 100 times.

I *love* going solo. I can do what I want, when I want. I can also choose to meet friends or go alone the whole time. I did a 9 day solo at AKL and it was wonderful. Everyone treated me like royalty and was never ignored or pitied because I was alone.

I planned out my days and if something didn't go right or I simply changed my mind, no problem. I could adjust on the fly and not have to worry about other people's disappointment. I made the ADR's for places I enjoyed, or thought I would enjoy, and the times that fit my schedule.

The rides are just as much fun solo as they are with others. Last year, I met up with some great people from here for the 'One More Disney Day' event and it was a blast to meet them. We hung out a little, but we all went our own ways. I enjoyed the interaction, but I was still doing a solo trip.

Sometimes there's a bigger benefit to going solo... I wanted to eat at Via Napoli, my favorite restaurant, and I didn't have an ADR. When I went up, the wait time was 45 - 60 minutes. However, all the parties before me were 3 or more people. A table for 2 opened up and I got it because I was a solo. I only waited about 15 minutes.

I also bring my nintendo 3DS into the park with me and I can play games while waiting in line.. or I'll read a book with my iphone kindle. I also enjoy people watching and will just sit on a park bench eating a dole whip and watching the crowds go by.

A solo vacation, no matter how busy I make it, has almost always been more relaxing than a vacation with family or friends.

Just back from my 2nd solo trip and had another fantastic time! What's Great About Going Solo? Deciding on the fly that I really wanted lunch at Epcot and hopping the boat or monorail just to get some fish & chips in the UK or a sandwich and pastry from France. Going on Star Tours 6 times (still bummed that I never got Naboo this trip). Being diverted into a shorter line at TSM because they're looking for ones and twos to fill cars. Being added into the line to meet Snow White and the Prince by the nice CM before he cut it off, because I was just one. As everyone has said, just the freedom to go at your own pace, decide when to eat, when to take a break, whether to wait in a line or pull a FP or try again later. WDW is a great place to go solo.
