Lego store....can I buy legos by the piece?

My daughter is having a lego birthday party and we'll be headed to Disney before her big day arrives. I want the kids to build race cars at the party but we do not have enough wheels. Can I just buy legos by the piece at the Lego store? Do they have wheels and axles that I can buy by the piece?

While I haven't done this, I am fairly certain you can buy legos by the piece. I think the store has several bins and you can choose all differnt colors, etc. and put them in a small plastic bag. I don't know if wheels are one of the pieces that are for sale separately.

Last time DS did this at the Lego store, it was a cup about the size of a large drink at Disney that you filled from certain types of Legos for around $20. I am not sure if there are wheels are not - we did not buy any in our cup, but that doesn't mean there weren't any offered.

I don't know about the Lego store, but here is a pretty good deal on eBay.

There have been times when they run out of wheels or the piece that goes across that the wheels attach to.

There is a wall of parts that you buy in bulk in tubs of a few sizes. Kind of like buying potato salad at the deli.

Not sure if they have wheels and axles. Here are some pics.

We did this last year for my son's party. We bought the wheels and axles at the Lego store near our home. The party was a huge success and my son wants another one!!

You can get a few dollars off your next purchase if you bring the container back..But who can keep up with it?

Brick Link

I coached a LEGO league team for years and we always got our parts from bricklink.com. You just have to look around a bit to find what you want but prices are the best you'l find.
