Dominican Republic resorts
Looking for suggestions for DR. It is just DH and myself, although, does not need to be adults only. Any suggestions appreciated.

Our family likes the Iberostar resorts. We've stayed in several in the DR and Mexico and have never been disappointed.

My DH and I spent our honeymoon at Excellence Punta Cana. We loved it! It was adults only. We are looking forward to going back for an anniversary.

DH and I stayed at Dreams La Romana in 2009. We LOVED it! Talking about going back in 2 years for our 10 year anniversary.

I stayed at the Majestic Colonial when I went in 2007. It was amazing. (Punta Cana)
A friend of mine went last year though, and there had been a fire previously that damaged a few restaurants... They have another resort that looks amazing though, the Majestic Elegance.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. A couple of other questions.....is the water safe? I had heard that it is similar to Mexico.
Also, I know Jamaica (went 1.5 yrs ago) we were told to only go off property in groups or tours. Basically, stay on property. Is it safe to rent a car and go off touring on your own? |

Stayed at Ocean Blue, hated it, rooms were filthy and in need of refurbishment, thought the food was horrible. We had 14 people in our group and not one person liked the resort.

We were just at Majestic Ellegance last month and loved it! So pretty!
