Palo and Pirate Night

Hello,
This will be my first Disney cruise! May 10th on the Magic! I keep seeing bits and pieces about a Palo dinner and Pirate Night. Is the dinner the formal dinner, adults only dinner, I am clueless. Also, what happens on pirate night? Are we suppose to bring costumes? Sorry for all the questions. I just want to be prepared! So excited!!!!!

Thanks for the help!
Liz

Ok, I found another thread about the pirate night. So I understand that. Still curious about the Palo dinner though....

Palo is an adult only restaurant. You have to make reservations and there is a surcharge.

That's subjective. Some people figure they've already paid for all their meals in their cruise fare, why add on an extra $20 per person and throw in a few extra $$ for an additional tip?

Others love the upscale adult atmosphere, and the Italian food.

The surcharge for Palo is $20 per person which according to DCL includes gratuity. Many cruisers still include an additional gratuity for their server. The cuisine is Northern Italian.

Yep, Palo is exactly the same on Pirate Night as it is the other nights of the cruise. 18+ only, formal dress code, same menu, same surcharge, servers in Palo don't dress in costume, etc.

In the main dining rooms, there are some people that dress up in pirate costumes, but there are far more that do not. The dress for Pirate Night in the MDRs is Cruise Casual (no shorts, no swimwear, etc.). There is a special "Pirates Night menu" which is served in all three restaurants. The servers dress up in costume, and if I recall there is a small parade with the servers.

Usually, there are pirate-themed bandanas waiting for on the tables on Pirate Night for those that didn't dress up, but want to get into the spirit of things. The shops on board have a selection of pirate costumes/accessories for purchase, if you are interested.

There is a deck party on Pirate Night, and on the cruises I've been on so far, Pirate Night is when they have the fireworks.
