Cozumel Question - Excursion

Hi! We are sailing to Cozumel in April and I was wondering if anyone has been and can give me excursion information. Right now we are thinking of doing the Cozumel Beach Break, but it will be over $300 for my husband, myself, my 6 and 7 year olds and my 16 year old niece.
First of all, if you have done that, is it worth it?
Second, can anyone recommend a beach to do without Disney's excursions - and maybe recommend areas you can shop? I've done one excursion in St. Maarten not connected to Disney and it was great but I have never done it "alone" without it being a tour company.
Just trying to get some ideas without paying a ton of money.

I totally agree that for a family of 4 that is a bit too much money.

There are definitely other options for you too. I got a lot of good info from another message board (cruise critic)

In my research I found a couple of tidbits that may or may not be helpful for you, but seemed to really shape our decision.

- Transportation: easy, affordable and safe via cab - govt set rates.
- "Beach Clubs" most offer all-inclusive packages, which for us who also have smaller children and don't plan on drinking much alcohol, didn't feel like we'd personally get our monies worth. There are some beach clubs that do not have all-inclusive packages (popular ones we read about were paradise beach and chankanaab national park) I'm sure there are a ton of other options out there.

Have fun planning
