Mixology - Fantasy - How long was your session? - The DIS Discussion Forums

Hey everyone,
Was just looking into Mixology. After reading a bunch of posts people seem to say it was anywhere from 35 min to 2 hours.

On the Navigator I checked it's down for 30 min.

Are there different sessions that last different lengths of time or is the variance by ship, or who leads it, or another reason?

Was just curious what to expect if we book this on a Fantasy Eastern. THANKS!

I think it depends on the bartender and how much time they have. I have done Mixology twice. The first time, it lasted over 2 hours. The bartender actually told us he was going to continue through his break. It was wonderful and we sampled about 15 different drinks, plus two that we created ourselves.

The second time, it lasted a little over an hour. It was still a very fun class and we sampled about 6 drinks. This time, we made each drink ourselves. The bartender made most of them during my first experience. We also had chances to win full sizes of drinks by answering questions correctly. Our group of 6 ended up getting 3 full size drinks.

I can't imagine the class lasting only 30 minutes, unless it is really rushed!

I participated in 3 mixology classes last summer. All of them were an hour long and we made 5 drinks - a cocktail, a muddled cocktail, champagne cocktail, martini, and a shot. SO much fun and I absolutely loved Damian, the bartender who taught the class. He was great!

Heard that you get plenty of booze and can get quite a buzz. Is it OK for me to pay and my wife to come along to watch.

I did the Mixology on my Fantasy cruise last week, it was a highlight of the trip. Our group was 15 people, and since I was travelling solo, I had such fun getting to know the others. The session was in the Skyline Lounge, and lasted about an hour and 40 minutes. Others were still hanging out at the end after our 5 cocktails (same as Noahsmom described above) but I had to get ready for formal night which I have no idea how I did because I was so buzzed!! I wasn't expecting to feel that great as I'm used to making my drinks quite strong but I guess since we all made the drinks we all made them strong, plus the mixing of the different types, made it so crazy! It was so cool to be able to go behind the bar. I can't believe it was only $15. Best value of the trip for sure.

I was able to tag along with my DD. I let the bartender know that I did not drink and was not participating but would watch and it was OK with her.

Novak in Skyline on the Fantasy is great. Very personable. We did both of the ones offered on our cruise in December. The first one had 15-20 people and lasted about an hour. The second had only seven people and lasted almost 90 minutes.

We had NOvak in August on the dream. He was great. I would say it lasted about 1hr. Can remember exactly how many people but I'm guessing about 12 or 14. They were all couples.

We signed up at guest services both times we did Mixology. We signed up on day 1 to be sure to get a spot.

Did you have Novak as the bartender? He was awesome during our mixology class

When were you on the cruise? We sailed 12/15-22/12 we had Novak and my wife was able to go behind the bar and mix one of the drinks.

Mixology was the first tasting we had ever done in 7 cruises. We had Novak in Skyline on the Dec 8-15 Fantasy. It was at 3:30 on the last sea day & lasted ~50 min. Warning! Do NOT drink extra drinks!!! Those 5 mini drinks look small, but it's a lot in a small time frame! Novak was tons of fun!! I highly recommend!!
