Best Places to Eat in/near Port Canaveral?
We will be staying at the Residence Inn, near the port the night before our cruise. We will have a rental car, and haven't been to Florida often & love to just explore a bit on our own. Any good/awesome/can't miss places near or far from Cape Canaveral? We will have DD almost 5, and DS2.5 with us of course, so kid friendly is best. Also, we are land locked (from Colorado!) so good fresh seafood is always welcome! Thanks!

We like Fish Lips - a hop skip and jump from your hotel. Sit upstairs for live music.

We live less than 10 mins from the port and love Rustys. Its right at the port and on the water great seafood with kid friendly options to, the kids meals come on a frisby to take home and icecream sandwiches. You can sit on the deck for a great view or inside

We leave on the Dream today
we stayed at the Country Inn next door to your hotel and walked to the docking area ( about a 15 minute walk with kids) There are several places to eat close together - we ate at Grills seafood dock and Tiki bar. It was pretty good - if you time it right you can watch the cruise ships sail by. There is outside dining and live music. The grilled fish was really good

We ate a Grills too and really liked. Good food, great atmosphere. Fun to look out at the port, we even caught sight of a dolphin when we first got there, then watched one of the ships leave a little later.

OP... Grills, Fishlips, Rusty's are all along the channel and all offer good seafood and fun settings. If a ship is leaving that night they sail right past and you can great view of the ships as they pass. You can sometimes see the fisherman coming into dock with the catches and watch them unload the fish. that is always interesting! Another nice place if you have time to visit is Jetty Park. some great views and has a playground and you can walk out on the jetty and sometimes see manatees or sea turtles and you can fish (not sure if you need a permit to fish). We like Grills. Their prices are decent and they have a wide selection. I can easily share a meal there with my 2 year old. Their kids meals are a good price, too.
You can find their menu online!

I have to say that I love Grills, especially their grilled Mahi. When people come down to visit we like to take them to Rusty's. The food is good, and they have a large deck where you can watch the cruise ships sail out.

Is that way passable? Are there sidewalks or roads or are you cutting across lots/shrubs and stuff the whole way?

My husband is the only one in our family that eats seafood. So on our last cruise we asked the front desk at our hotel where to eat that doesn't just have seafood. They told us Kelsey's Pizzeria and Restaurant was really good! http://kelseyscanaveral.com/
We really enjoyed it and plan to eat there the night before our upcoming cruise. We stayed at Country Inn & Suites and it was within walking distance to it. |

Portside Galley, its kinda like a hole in the wall place but they have a pretty good breakfast (and pretty inexpensive too) we stopped in there on the morning of boarding. Its also right around the corner from the pier, I would imagine lunch is decent as well.
When we go back if they're still open we'll stop in again |

using google earth or maps you could zoom in and you will find a side walk - not direct - and roads that will get you over there. BUT as I mentioned the area is industrial, A1A is multilane and traffic from the west is dumping from SR-528 - in other words OFTEN well over the posted speed limit. I would recommend the short taxi ride especially at night.
